  • "Doctor Who": In "The Giggle", while listing the reasons humanity is "the ultimate playground", the Toymaker mentions humans "making games out of bricks falling upon other bricks".

Video Games

  • Cytus has an arrangement of "Korobeiniki" called "The Blocks We Loved", which clearly references Tetris blocks.
  • Remorse: The List is set in 1996, and you can collect the classic Tetris consoles to unlock Easter Eggs.
  • Sonic Adventure 2: In Crazy Gadget, the large colored platforms surrounding the Goal Ring resemble tetrominoes. If you take Omochao to the Goal Ring, he will comment "Hmmm. This looks like a game I've seen before."
  • Star Tropics 2: A character called "Tetris" is featured.

  • Animator vs. Animation: In Animation vs. Arcade Games, Tetris is among the many arcade games Yellow creates when he uses his laptop to transfer the games into his arcade cabinet allowing his friends to play, as well as becoming disrupted by Q*bert who's messing with the arcade games.

  • The xkcd strips "Hell" (a Tetris game with a curved bottom, so the tetrominoes can't fit together properly) and "Heaven" (a Tetris game with an oversized "tetromino" that exactly fits the space available).

  • SCP Foundation:
    • SCP-3090 is a humanoid with a television for a head, if it gets close to any video game, an icon of the SCP appears on the screens and some other alterations happen to the games. Once it was tested with Tetris, when a block fell on the icon it crushed and the entity fell unconscious.
    • SCP-4163 is a human, if she makes skin contact with any computer system capable of running any variant of Tetris then everyone else will be able to play a perfect game on it without losing, until either the player becomes too fatigued to continue or the device malfunctions.

Western Animation

  • In one episode of Arthur, D.W. mispronounces the term "tetanus booster" as "Tetris booster".
  • Family Guy: In "Prick Up Your Ears", when Peter shows up at Meg's sex education class where Lois is teaching, Lois asks him why he is there. Peter tells her that he is not going to miss his chance to share his knowledge with Meg's class, as he is already missed out on too many other opportunities. What follows is a cutaway where Peter appears as an I-Block about to dive into a narrow gap built by other Tetrominos. Unfortunately for Peter, he accidentally lands just outside the gap, which the other blocks berate him for. Bruce then appears as a Z-Block and lands on top of Peter, saying "I know I don't fit here, but I'm just gonna settle right in."
  • Futurama:
    • In "Fear of a Bot Planet", some robots are stacking Tetriminoes in an alley when Leela distracts the boss with a question about Bender. He doesn't notice the crane operator dropping an I block until it's too late, with the Tetris getting completed (and their hard work erased with it).
    • In "The Luck of the Fryish", while the group is walking around Old New York City searching for Fry's lucky seven-leaf clover, Leela mentions that her wrist computer gizmo has Tetris installed, in case anybody gets bored.
  • Muppet Babies (1984): In "It's Only Pretendo", Baby Fozzie attempts to play a Tetris-like video game where the goal is to stack blocks in the nursery. He becomes overwhelmed with just how many blocks are falling and is unable to keep up.
  • The Simpsons: In "Strong Arms of the Ma", after the Simpson family shops at a Garage Sale hosted by Rainier Wolfcastle, Homer uses his experience in playing Tetris to fit everything he bought and his family in the car. Unfortunately, he forgot to include himself in the equation. During this sequence, the Type A music from the Game Boy version plays, followed by a fanfare from the NES version when Homer realizes there is no room for him in the car.
