  • The Dreamers: When Matthew, Isabelle and Theo are discussing the movies of Nicholas Ray, they bring up this film, and Matthew also dresses up as Jim (complete with the red jacket) when he's in the Louvre.
  • Footloose: There's a Game of Chicken involving tractors that Wren gets involved in that's similar to the one in Rebel.
  • La La Land: Mia and Sebastian make a date to go see the movie. Mia doesn't show up at first, but then she ends up going. Mia and Sebastian also visit the Griffith observatory.
  • The Room (2003): Johnny's "You're tearing me apart, Lisa!" line is a Shout-Out to Jim's line in Rebel.

  • Angel: The second season episode "Are You Now or Have You Ever Been" has a few references to the movie, including the red jacket Angel wears, a leading lady named Judy, and Angel and Judy talking about the Griffith observatory.
  • Gilmore Girls: In the second season episode "The Ins and Outs of Inns", when Luke tells Jess to stay out of trouble, Jess brings up the Game of Chicken from the movie.
  • Happy Days: In the second season episode "You Go to my Head", Richie, Ralph and Potsie see the movie.
  • Sabrina the Teenage Witch: In the first season episode "Halloween Party", Harvey dresses up as Jim from the film.
  • SCTV did an Affectionate Parody of '50s B Movies called I Was a Teenage Communist which was allegedly based on the novel Werewolf Without A Cause.
  • Ultraman: Bin Furuya, Ultraman's suit actor, stated in an interview that he based Ultraman's hunched-over fighting stance on Jim's similar stance during the knife fight scene in this film.
