- Word of God from the designers of Warhammer 40,000 have stated that the character of Cypher, a gunfighter with two pistols and a long robe over his armour, who rarely speaks but somehow manages to foment animosity and discord amongst anyone he comes into contact with (even allies), and is mysteriously protected from harm by a supernatural force was a homage to The Stranger from High Plains Drifter. The fact that he's a Mysterious Stranger with an unknown agenda, who may be the physical form of any one of several vengeful spirits (or none at all) pushes it into outright expy territory.
