  • In the movie Sleepless in Seattle, Tom Hanks declares that "It (the movie) scared the shit out of me! It scared the shit out of me and every man in America!" (Incidentally, Hanks was one of the actors considered for the role of Dan).

Live-Action TV

  • The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air: One early episode had Will being forced to date Jazz's domineering sister, and he compares the situation to the movie, quipping that "Yo, if we had a bunny, dude would be chillin' on the stove right now!"
  • An In Living Color! sketch that initially was a coffee commercial for "Tester's Choice" ends up being this, complete with fhe obsessed woman saying how she's not going to be ignored, flicking the lights on and off like Alex did and even being drowned in the bathtub at the end of the segment.
  • I Love The 80s: 1987 had the panelists discuss the film and how much of a cautionary tale it serves to the public.

Western Animation

  • The Critic: In "A Song For Margo" after Margo catches her rock star boyfriend cheating on her, she at one point sits underneath a floor lamp and flicks the lights on and off in her despair.
  • Family Guy:
    • In "Barley Legal", Meg develops a dangerous crush on Brian, and a few scenes directly spoof this movie ("I will not be ignored, Brian").
    • In "A Lot Going On Upstairs", Stewie dreams that he's at a dinner party hosted by Glenn Close (voicing herself), who jokingly says that the main course will be boiled rabbit. Stewie doesn't get the joke, even though it's his dream.
  • Robot Chicken: One skit had a commercial for a plumber who locates various things in clients' drains, including the drowned body of Alex Forrest.
  • An episode of Rugrats (1991) is titled "Cradle Attraction".
  • South Park: In "1%", Cartman tries to avoid somebody who's been "killing" his toys by hiding at Tolkien's house, only to end up finding Muscleman Marc boiling in a pot.
