Live-Action TV

  • Mad TV: The animated sketch "Davey and Son of Goliath" depicts Goliath as a hallucination that orders Davey to kill those he deems impure. This is a reference to serial killer David Berkowitz (a.k.a. Son of Sam), who claimed that he was instructed by a demonic dog.

Western Animation

  • Moral Orel: The show is a twisted parody of the series in terms of style and themes, although Word of God claims its based more on Leave It to Beaver.
  • The Simpsons: Given the show's Christian slant, it's natural that there would be references involving the Flanders family.
    • In "Homer vs. Lisa and the 8th Commandment", Homer watches an episode of Davey and Goliath on his illegal cable hookup, right before Marge tells him it's time to go to church.
    • In "Bart the Lover", Maude mentions that Todd used to watch Davey and Goliath, but he thought the idea of a talking dog was blasphemous.
    • In the third segment of "Simpsons Bible Stories", which parodies ''the "David and Goliath" story, Santa's Little Helper speaks to King David (Bart) in Goliath's voice.
    • In "HOMR", Rod and Todd watch an episode of Gravey and Jobriath, in which Gravey plots to bomb Planned Parenthood and blows up Jobriath with a pipe bomb.
    • In "Ned 'n' Edna's Blend", Ned has a nightmare of what would happen if Edna was in charge of his sons' education, which is animated in the show's style.
Goliath: Why are we here, Neddy?
Ned: Well, first of all, I think talking dogs are the spawn of the Devil.
