** Dawitsu also shouts out to ''VideoGame/SonicAdventure2'' by saying to Minoriko Aki "...well, if you wish to bring destruction upon the world, I shall give to you the ultimate power..." while offering her a new fake chaos emerald to cause an incident... making Dawitsu a GreaterScopeVillain of an unseen incident... naturally, he wants to be the [[BonusBoss Extra Boss]] because of this.

* EnsembleDarkhorse: In-universe. Merlin is referred to as being the fan favorite out of the Phantom [[JustForPun Ensemble]].

* CloningBlues: See above. They're [[SubvertedTrope surprisingly chipper]] despite their single-day lifespan, due to never [[IRegretNothing having to regret their actions]].

* BookDumb / StreetSmart: Surprisingly, Marisa in relation to Philosophy, though obviously she's actually book smart in magic.

* ConvenientlyAnOrphan/ OrphansOrdeal: [[spoiler:[[ZigZaggedTrope Zig zags between the two]] when a little of Reimu's past is revealed. She did have a parent, Reimu Hakurei the twelfth (who died when the current Reimu was younger), making her Reimu Hakurei the [[ThirteenIsUnlucky thirteenth]]. However, she finds out that even Reimu Hakurei XII wasn't her true mother, and that she was an adoptive mother, yet she was loved as a daughter regardless. [[ExpositionFairy Yukari]], who explains all of this, says that this is the way the Hakurei Shrine maidens have always been raised, and that Reimu will receive an adoptive daughter of her own from the outside world (delivered by Yukari herself) some day, which leads nicely to [[DistantFinale the epilogue]]...]]

* CrypticConversation: Jean [[DeconstructedTrope deconstructs]] this in his thoughts relating to a [[AcceptableTargets priest]] that he talked to after his wife died, asking him why God permits suffering. In his eyes, it was clear the priest didn't know, but continued to vaguely talk as if he did know, causing Jean to become bitter with users of this trope, preferring the likes of Reimu (who admits she hasn't spoken to her God in ages).

* [[spoiler:HotForStudent]]: [[spoiler:Marisa is hot for Jean. [[DownplayedTrope Downplayed]], since it's only a superficial crush, unlike [[SmittenTeenageGirl Reimu]]'s one]].

* ImGoingToHellForThis: Strangely enough, PlayedForTears. Dawitsu mentions that he's going to hell for creating rapidly-degenerating clones that don't get a proper chance at life, and says that he hopes the ones dishing out the punishments are his chibi clones.

The result is she becomes a sickeningly sweet CheerfulChild, and thus has an opportunity for redemption. * {{Seme}}/{{Uke}}: [[DefiedTrope Defied]] by Dawitsu's attitude to two women getting married after Chen asks who will be the 'boy' of Yutaka and Patchouli and who will be the 'girl', and says that because they're both women, they'll [[LipstickLesbian both act like women]] at their wedding.

* VampiresAreSexGods: A drunk Tokage and Remilia {{discuss|edTrope{{ this trope, with Tokage asking if they're hot, and Remilia rebuffing the statement, saying her cousin Dracula is like an old man, to which Tokage says that [[MayDecemberRomance old guys can be hot too...]]

* RushedInvertedReading: Flandre is said to be reading Oliver Twist upside down at one point, as she thought the 'twist' [[AWorldwidePunomenon part of the title was a command]]...

* ShipToShipCombat: In-universe. Dawitsu and Sanae are LightNovel/HaruhiSuzumiya shippers, with Sanae supporting Kyon-Mikuru shipping on the basis that Mikuru is the one Kyon expresses the most attraction for, and Dawitsu starts an argument with her on the grounds that he prefers [[HurtComfortFic Kyon-Yuki]] shipping, because the movie focuses so much on Yuki's [[TheWoobie tragic situation]] and how Kyon clearly feels sorry for her and connects with her on an emotional level, and even says that Yuki needs a hug. Sanae responds by saying that if he loves her so much, he should ship ''himself'' with Yuki, because Kyon's heart belongs to Mikuru, before the argument descends to simple [[FanDumb 'I'm right!', 'No, I'm right!']] territory.

* ADateWithRosiePalms: Implied at the beginning of chapter 14 on Dawitsu's part.

* DitzyGenius: Yutaka and Patchouli. [[spoiler:They plan every aspect of the wedding perfectly, and then, ''on the wedding day'', they notice they've forgotten something. [[WhatAnIdiot The freakin' wedding rings!]]]] They also stand on each other's shoulders to cut the massively tall wedding cake when ''they can both easily levitate''.

* PositiveDiscrimination: Dawitsu exhibits this towards the girls of his class. Naturally, the narrative [[LampshadeHanging lampshades]] this.

* AllWomenAreDomsAllMenAreSubs: [[spoiler:Implied with Dawitsu and Ran. Dawitsu is even ''traumatized'' by his encounter when they ''[[WillTheyOrWontThey finally]]'' have sex.]]

* IdealizedSex: Realistically awkwardly [[AvertedTrope averted]] with [[spoiler:Dawitsu and Ran's 'night of passion'. When they're finally alone with each other and willing, they stand around ''for ten minutes'' awkwardly before even saying anything to each other about it, and then they forcefully discuss where they should do it. After that, Dawitsu actually has to ''ask'' what Ran's into, and the result is Ran whispering something no doubt HeadTiltinglyKinky (it makes Dawitsu's face change varyingly, 'covering the range from 'turned on' to 'disgusted' then to 'excited' and further to 'confused'.'), and Dawitsu's response is not '[[AManIsAlwaysEager yes, yes yes!]]' but instead is a 'Hell, I'll try anything once'. And then Ran starts to [[AllWomenAreDomsAllMenAreSubs dominate him]]. All hopes of idealized sex fall apart from there.]]

* GenkiGirl: Aya is this [[UpToEleven to the nth degree]].

* MetaGuy: Dawitsu and Marisa take their role UpToEleven in this final book. Marisa constantly refers to how her adventures are part of a game, and the narration reveals that Dawitsu's mimicry abilities extend to ''manipulating the narration so it rhymes'' whenever he mimics [[DoctorSeuss the Grinch]]. Also, Dawitsu out and out says that a chapter's about to end, telling the other characters to ''[[PaintingTheMedium look below]]'', not to mention wondering what the next game will be like. Also, Yuyuko mentions that Gensokyo is unusually peaceful because of a natural regression that occurs between games'. She soon corrects this to 'incidents'.

* {{Tsundere}}: [[TheCynic Lunasa]] is a type A, as does [[DeadpanSnarker Lyrica]] and even Youmu. Reimu is this UpToEleven, as if the writer suddenly learnt how to write a {{Tsundere}} character.

* TastesLikeDiabetes: The in-universe reaction to [[spoiler:Medicine Melancholy's new personality, Medicine 'Merriment'.]]

* [[spoiler:RaiseHimRightThisTime:]] [[spoiler:Medicine Melancholy comes back to life thanks to Alice treating her with kindness. The result is she becomes a [[TastesLikeDiabetes sickeningly sweet]] CheerfulChild, and thus has an opportunity for redemption. * HeelFaceBrainwashing: Albeit unintentional. [[spoiler:Medicine Melanchly comes back to life, now [[TastesLikeDiabetes ridiculously sweet]] and treating Alice like her mother.]]

* BackFromTheDead: [[spoiler:Medicine Melancholy. But she's [[NotHimself Not]] [[TastesLikeDiabetes Herself]].]]

* NiceHat: Jean describes Keine Kamishirasawa as having a 'house for a hat'. Also, Dawitsu considers wearing a top-hat for th wedding, but Yutaka [[DefiedTrope doesn't let him]].

* BlindingBangs: Hebiko's eye expressions are occasionally referred to as being covered by her hair.

* RantInducingSlight: Yuyuko telling Youmu that a good wife never grumbles may not have been her smartest move. Also, a [[DownplayedTrope downplayed]] example comes when Sakuya is making Remilia's wedding outfit, but is constantly being told to make adjustments because it doesn't look exactly as Remilia wants it. Once she's okay with the looks, she tries it on, and complains that it's too tight. Cue Sakuya saying "''TOUGH.''".

* AndNowForSomethingCompletelyDifferent: The title of the first chapter. [[NonIndicativeName Though it actually]] [[ContinuityPorn continues where Jean's Magical Education left off, just a few months later]].

* AdjustingYourGlasses: Semi, the keybard player for Youmu and the Half-ghosts, and does so by the nose-bridge push, and the glasses she wears seem to be [[PurelyAestheticGlasses Purely Aesthetic]] [[SunglassesAtNight Sunglasses]].

* TechnicianVersusPerformer: Youmu's band members are a mixture of one side or the other. Demi (the bassist and ThatOneGuy) is a performer, Semi (the keyboard player) is a performer, Hemi (the lead guitarist) is a technician, and Point-five seems to be a middle ground to this. Youmu also seems to be a middle ground to this, requiring practice with the assistance of the Prismrivers yet enjoying every second of her musical career.

* YouMakeMeSic: Ran. Dawitsu says "You and me", and Ran corrects it to "You and ''I''."

* TooKinkyToTorture: A [[DownplayedTrope Downplayed]] G-rated version in the perverted child from Keine's class, Sosake. After [[HotTeacher Yutaka]] threatens him with detention for not helping out with [[spoiler:a surprise party to comfort the mind-snapped Keine]], he replies with, 'Oh, that'd be great! I get to spend time with you alone...'. Yutaka quickly [[DefiedTrope defies]] this by telling him he'd be spending the detention with Dawitsu.

* TropeOverdosed: This book is certainly going out of its way to be saturated with tropes.

* VampiresAreSexGods: A drunk Tokage and Remilia [[DiscussedTrope discuss]] this trope, with Tokage asking if they're hot, and Remilia rebuffing the statement, saying her cousin Dracula is like an old man, to which Tokage says that [[MayDecemberRomance old guys can be hot too...]]

* WackyMarriageProposal: Yutaka tries to [[AvertedTrope avert]] this by simply altering a book to ask Patchouli to marry her. [[spoiler:But of course, it doesn't go to plan, and Patchouli faints at the news, causing Koakuma to misunderstand situations and assume she's attacked Patchouli, resulting in a chase.]] [[spoiler:Also averted by Dawitsu in the past, as he intended to wine and dine Yutaka, and ask her to marry him, but [[CantSpitItOut couldn't spit it out]].]]
* WaterIsAir: [[InvertedTrope Inverted]] with Dawitsu's attempts to swim through air.
* WeaknessTurnsHerOn: Sakuya enjoys Rinnosuke acting in a vulnerable manner a little more than she should... which leads to this trope being [[DiscussedTrope discussed]] by the women of the Scarlet Devil Mansion.

* WellIntentionedExtremist: [[DownplayedTrope Downplayed]]. [[spoiler:When Patchouli faints due to being proposed to by Yutaka, Koakuma assumes that Yutaka attacked her, and becomes incredibly protective of her mistress, chasing the 'assailant', Yutaka, without a second thought.]]

* TheWoobie: [[DiscussedTrope Discussed]] in-universe. Both Yuki Nagato and Ran are thought of in this way by Dawitsu, and he even compares the two, asking himself 'wasn't it the same here? Wasn't Ran the girl who worked and worked, never getting any form of emotional reward? Who desperately needed a hug? Who needed someone to tell her that she was worth something, that she was loveable... was it patronising to think this way?'. He also thinks about why female woobies tend to have a fan following, his particular view being that it cultivates a 'nurturing instinct'.

* NotSoDifferent: Minamitsu Murasa and [[spoiler:Medicine Melancholy]]- both former mass-murderers now taking the role of TheAtoner.

* TheAce: Hebiko is this in regards to writing, much to [[LoveableSexManiac Tokage's]] dismay, and manages to out-do Tokage easily at writing a sex scene after [[LetsSeeYouDoBetter being challenged to write a better sex scene]].

* KimonoFanservice: Dawitsu wanted to [[InvokedTrope invoke]] this trope but Yutaka [[DefiedTrope defies]] this by having a western wedding ceremony. However, the Tanabata festival and wedding does see Aya and [[{{Adorkable}} Hebiko]] in the similar-looking Yukata... picture [[http://duwee-davisii.deviantart.com/gallery/#/d5banmy here]].

* {{Anticlimax}}: Jean walks up to the Myouren temple, but is stopped by Shou Toramaru. She seems ready to take him down with all [[FrickinLaserBeams the power of Bishamonten]]... but realizes she's lost her pagoda.
