Lightning decides to go after Spectre next. Using his "Armatos Legio" monsters and "Judgment Arrows", he creates an Extra Link and drives Spectre into a corner. However, Spectre has already prepared something in advance to counter Lightning's strategy...
This episode contains the following tropes:
- The Bus Came Back: Albeit briefly, "Decode Talker" appears for the first time since the finale of the first season, finishing off a BitBoot.
- Divide and Conquer: Since his enemies outnumber his side, Lightning cuts off the data material flow and strands everyone on separate sections of Mirror LINK VRAINS in order to pick them off one by one.
- Foreshadowing: Spectre accuses Lightning of secretly harboring a hidden complex regarding humanity. Not only does Lightning not give any sort of rebuttal, but a later episode confirms it's true.
- Hoist by His Own Petard: Spectre steals control of "Judgment Arrows" from Lightning in order to get around the latter's Extra Link strategy.
- Logical Weakness: As Lightning notes, Spectre's deck is entirely dependent on Link Summoning, while his main deck monsters have little use outside of Link Summoning. This makes using an Extra Link a particularly effective strategy against him.
- Loophole Abuse: Because Lightning has "Judgment Arrows", he can take advantage of the Link Spell's Link Arrows to easily set up an Extra Link on the first turn.
- Mundane Utility: Blue Maiden can use her Power Gives You Wings to slow her descent once Lightning initiates his Divide and Conquer strategy.
- "Not So Different" Remark: Spectre points out that he felt an affinity for Lightning during his Duel with Blood Shepherd, considering that they both run similarly structured Decks (other than the fact that Spectre doesn't possess "Judgment Arrows").
- This leads him to use a spell card to steal "Judgment Arrows" in order to counter Lightning's Extra Link.
- Sadistic Choice: Downplayed. Windy captures the Frog and Pigeon pair and threatens to erase them if they don't follow his orders, but the worst he makes them do is broadcast the actions of Lightning's faction.
- Stunned Silence: When Spectre accuses Lightning of harboring a hidden complex, the later reacts with this. Spectre naturally points out that this reaction just proves he's on the right track.
