Recap / Yu Gi Oh GXS 1 E 6 The Shadow Duelist 2

Go To

  • Badass Adorable: Winged Kuriboh scares off the Shadow Realm spirits to prevent them from eating Jaden.
  • From Nobody to Nightmare: Dub only. When Winged Kuriboh reveals Titan's dark magic is phony, Jaden thinks he's an out of work carny. Titan lets it slip that he's not out of work and could get his job at the fair back anytime he wants.
  • Not Me This Time:
    • In both versions, after the real Shadow game begins, Jaden still believes it's all Titan's illusions, despite him insisting he's not doing anything.
    • In the dub, Jaden also assumes Titan is the one responsible for all the student disappearances. Titan truthfully has no idea what he's talking about.
  • Real After All: Jaden and Titan are sent to the Shadow Realm where one of the spirits in there possesses Titan. Although Jaden thinks Titan is still faking.
  • Red Eyes, Take Warning: Titan's eyes glow red when possessed by a Shadow Realm spirit.
  • Screw This, I'm Outta Here: When Jaden figures out Titan's shadow magic is fake, he throws down some smokescreen in an attempt to leave the duel. Jaden tries to go after him but accidentally activates some magic mechanisms in the room sending them to a shadow game.
  • Spot the Impostor: A variation. Titan tries to prove to Jaden that his illusions are the real by pointing out that Alexis is still missing, explaining that's why his Millenium Pendant is real. However, a quick glance from the viewers, coupled with Jaden having seen the images of the Millenium Items on the walls of the dorm just last episode, shows he really is a phony. Jaden points out Titan's item should be the Millenium Puzzle, not Pendant (and naturally Yugi should still canonically have the real Millenium Puzzle).
  • Villains Want Mercy: As the shadow blobs swarm him, Titan begs Jaden to save him.
