Recap / Wild Kratts S 6 E 10 Amazin Amazon Adventure Part 1

Go To

When Aviva experiences an invention slump, the Wild Kratts team is determined to help. They take her down the mysterious Amazon River in search of inspiration from amazing creatures that live there. But Aviva must reclaim her invention prowess fast, because Zach, Donita, Gourmand, Paisley, and Rex seek to mine the area's biodiversity for their own nefarious schemes.

Tropes

  • Animal Stampede: Martin is caught in the middle of a stampede of capybaras when a jaguar comes lurking towards them. He ends up falling into a mud puddle and is briefly covered in mud.
  • An Offer You Can't Refuse: Zach drops the trope name verbatim when he calls up the other villains. As it turns out, it quite literally is an offer they can't refuse.
  • Attention Deficit... Ooh, Shiny!: Chris lampshades this trait of Martin's when the elder Kratt brother breaks away from his efforts to free Chris and Blockhead from a green anaconda's vice-grip to fetch something on the canoe. As it turns out, he wasn't distracted — he transformed into an electric eel to shock the anaconda into releasing its victims.
Chris: He gets distracted, Blockhead, even at the worst times!
  • Big Eater: When Koki calls Jimmy and finds him asleep, she activates the "emergency wake-up". Said "wake-up" is a pizza slice, which dangles over his face and wakes him up.
  • The Cameo: Despite being mentioned in at least one synopsis, Rex only has a single, non-speaking appearance in this special, and it is when the villains are talking about preparing their plans.
  • Continuity Nod: Many named animals make their appearances in this episode, including Voltage and Litigursa Krattorum, among others.
  • Dramatic Thunder: When Paisley shows the rest of the villains her outline of the mall she plans to build, thunder crackles in the dark sky overhead.
  • Failed a Spot Check:
    • Neither Chris nor Martin realize that what they're picking up to put in the water isn't their canoe, but a caiman. Chris does, however, ask why their canoe is suddenly heavier and bumpier than usual, and it's only when the caiman hisses that they realize their mistake.
    • Likewise, neither Chris nor Martin nor Koki initially notice the Spybot attached to their canoe. The same goes for Aviva; however, for her, it's justified since she is lost in thought for most of the episode. Koki does eventually manage to find the Spybot, though, kickstarting the second half shortly after in the process.
  • Heavy Sleeper: Par for the course for Jimmy, who doesn't manage to see or hear Zach flying right on up next to him.
Zach: Oh, good. He's asleep again. I can always count on him for that.
  • I Can't Believe I'm Saying This: Chris drops this verbatim when he ends up trapped between the coils of a green anaconda.
Chris: I can't believe I'm saying this, but I wish it wasn't green!
  • I've Heard of That — What Is It?: Zach has one of these moments when he's spying on Chris, Martin and Aviva.
Chris: The Amazon is full of inspiring ideas, Aviva. It has the highest biodiversity of any land habitat.
Zach: Ohhh, they're talking about biodiversity. See, biodiversity is...uh...well, uh- biodiversity is...
Martin: The amount of different plants and animals. And Aviva, the Amazon has more biodiversity than any other forest in the world.
Zach: Well, that's what I was gonna say...
  • Megaphone Gag: Martin uses a megaphone to make a convincing imitation of a howler monkey's howls.
  • Missed Him by That Much: Chris and Martin declare their intent to find the villains and stop them before it's too late. Seconds after they paddle away, though, Zachbots and Donita's mannequins begin gathering up animals.
  • The Power of Friendship: It's quite telling that Chris and Martin are willing to put their search for pink river dolphins aside in order to help Aviva.
  • O.O.C. Is Serious Business: Aviva is known for being quite innovative and constantly thinking of new inventions — so when she hits a creative block, Koki and Jimmy are quick to realize something is wrong.
  • Series Continuity Error: When showing off Aviva's past inventions, Koki refers to the Manta Rider as the "Manta Sled".
  • Shock and Awe: Martin transforms into an electric eel and shocks the green anaconda so that it will release Chris and Blockhead. It works.
  • The Snack Is More Interesting: When Martin and Chris are checking their supplies before going on the river, Martin takes out a sandwich. Chris calls out "First aid", and Martin is shown with part of the sandwich in his mouth as he holds out a first-aid kit.
  • Spy Cam: Zach sends a Spybot to the brothers' canoe so he can spy on them. Once it latches onto the boat, it produces a camera.
  • Stealth Pun: Zach refers to the Amazon as the "Amazon plainforest", which could serve as a good pun if one considers how he views the Amazon — he doesn't care all that much about the life within it, so long as it's for his benefit (and by extension, the benefit of the other villains). Best supported by Paisley's comment after he drops the pun:
Paisley: All forests are plain if you ask me. Go on.
  • Tempting Fate:
    • Jimmy happens to mention Zach and the rest of the villains offhand as he stays behind in the Tortuga...just before he remarks that Aviva is out of commission. This, of course, is just more fodder for Zach, as he finds ample opportunity to strike and gathers the rest of the villains up to join him.
    • As Zach, Donita, and Gourmand rush off, Zach remarks that "no one can stop us!". Naturally, the Wild Kratts Crew are already planning to stop them and do so successfully in the second part.
  • To Be Continued: Right after the villains begin to capture the creatures in the Amazon, this trope shows up since it's a two-parter, but since the second part aired on the same day, it ends up becoming To Be Continued... Right Now.
  • Villain Team-Up: Zach teams up with the rest of the villains — Gourmand, Donita, Paisley, and Rex — in order to attack the Amazon and the Wild Kratts Crew while Aviva is stuck with a really bad creative block. Unfortunately, things don't exactly pan out when they spot the animals they want.
  • Writer's Block: Aviva is hit with a pretty bad case of creative block throughout the episode, and can't come up with any ideas for new inventions, due to the fact that she wants her inventions to be meaningful, innovative, and made for the world's benefit. As a result, she begins to worry that she is tapped out, and Chris and Martin take her with them as they explore the Amazon and its many creatures.
  • Xanatos Gambit: While Gourmand, Donita, and Zach do their thing in capturing animals for their own purposes, Paisley bats cleanup, deciding to pave the entirety of the Amazon to turn into a mall where the rest of the villains can sell their things. It's an Evil Plan where every villain gets something out of the deal.
