Recap / We Are Our Avatars Escapist

Go To

This is the recap page for We Are Our Avatars Escapist, and oh boy! This page needs a group cooperation!

This is what you do in this page: Add summaries/recaps, character introduction and a brief explanation of the thread and its setting. When adding a recap, please try to give a link to the thread. For example, give a link to page 1 and page 200; so a newcomer or reader can know which part to skip and which part to read. When writing a character introduction, give links to the pages the characters were introduced on.

    WAOA I
This is where it all started. It was the start of something beautiful, and insane. But for some strange reasons, the founder was never seen after the first thread.
  • Rugal Plot: Rugal Bernstein attempted to teleport in an army to take over Earth
    • Stage 1 - The heroes gathered materials from various corners of the globe. While Rugal only planned for these to be distractions to keep the only people on the planet who could stop him busy, it turned out they conveniently happened to be the materials required to build a doomsday laser that was the only thing that could ultimately kill Rugal. How embarrassing for him.
    • Stage 2 - Tokyo. Godzilla showed up and fought a giant stickman, a werewolf and an irishman had a fight to the death, and an army of stickmen built a giant spider-mech with a massive doomsday laser on it.
    • Stage 3 - Island assault. Everyone attacks Rugal's compound. Big fight, lots of people die, great fun for all (except Rugal, who was killed).

  • Joel Plot
    • Stage 1: Island Battle Aftermath. Joel, disguised as Julia Chase of Homeland Security, infiltrated the group to lead them on a wild goose chase after 'Joel'.
    • Stage 2: University. Joel revealed himself, claiming he was being framed for various crimes.
    • Stage 3: New York City. Joel led the group to a police station, which was holding various fake-Joels. The group interrogated them, then, when they realised the suspects were innocent, started to kill them. Joel realised these 'heroes' were crazy, and fled the dimension.
    • Stage 4: Aftermath. The group attacked Joel's warehouse, and found another of his doubles. After a short fight with Reno and Rude, they realised Joel was gone. Meanwhile, Joe managed to get onto Airforce One to talk to President Obama. Before Obama could say a single word, a mysterious supersoldier killed him.

    WAOA II
Created by Trilby Will, this thread contains most of the iconic characters of the series, like Four, Joe, and Erica/Regulus. It also has a lot of detailed Fanservice and sex... Suffice it to say that it is a bit on the NSFW side.
  • Wesker Plot
    • Stage 1: Hamburg. The group arrived in Hamburg, Germany, outside the airport where WAOA I ended. Wesker released a virus, creating a small zombie horde out of the civilians. After a fight, Sherlock tracked Wesker, with the rest of the group following him.
    • Stage 2: Berlin. After following Wesker to Berlin, the group managed to confront him. Sherlock prevented another attack outside the Reichstag, however he was murdered by Varger. After this, Wesker was killed, due to his player not having the time to run a plot.
  • Kessler Plot
    • Stage 1: Berlin. Kessler attacked the group, causing destruction in Berlin. He retreated, and the group fled the Zombie Apocalypse to France.
    • Stage 2: France. After landing in France, the group found a group of refugees. While conversing with the soldiers protecting the airport, a group of zombies attacked.
  • Regulus Plot

    WAOA III
Created by Silver Shadow, this thread marks the end of the WAOA trilogy. It has one of the series most controversial characters; Grace, played by Outisakanobody. It's also as NSFW as its predecessor.
  • Cyberian
    • Stage 1: London. The group arrives in London after escaping WAOA II. They discover Four arrived a month before them, and has settled down with a new MIA, and has a job and two children. However, Cyberian operatives who also traveled from WAOA II recognise the group, and brand them all enemies of the state. Four's boss is killed, and the restaurant she worked in is 'whitewashed'. The city is put under curfew, as a large demon-dog is sent to hunt the group down. They flee to France.
  • Armageddon.
  • The Crusaders.
  • Beyond the Fourth Wall?.
    • A mysterious man, identifying himself as 'Harry', introduces himself to Hazama. Hazama agrees to cause chaos, in order to be gifted access to memories. Later, Silver Shadow joins the company, due to his numerous hacking attempts.
    WAOA IV
Created by Outisakanobody, IV is notable for having a single overarching plot instead of the free-from style of the previous threads.
WAOA V/DLV (It's actually the fifth in the series. Don't ask about the name.)
Created by Nile. Much like IV, it too has an overarching plot. Unlike IV, it has much more leeway. V is know the for two things: the first thread to be set outside of Earth and the first thread to get axed, the latter, sadly, is a recurring thing.
    WAOA VI
Created by Saltyk, it too has an overarching plot and a setting besides Earth. VI, initially, went smoothly until its second half. Saltyk and Zeph had to leave the thread to due to real life matters, so Co-GM Nailik had to take control of the thread to avoid any axings. It ended with Loki winning and taking control over the nation, which is arguably a Bittersweet Ending.
    WAOA VII: Universal Shift
Created by Dirty Cop James funs. Unlike IV, V/DLV, and VI, VII had a free-from style which is similar to the first three installment in the series. VII had many issues, the prime being character death and in-fighting between players. VII lasted for over 700 pages before it got axed. Notable for introducing time-skips into the series and for having one of the series's most prolific characters, Erica, die.
  • Dallas Zombie Apocalypse
    • Arrival. The new group of valiant heroes and brave adventurers arrive in a suburb of Dallas, Texas. This causes panic and confusion among the locals who call the cops. The situation is worsened by the arrival of the Meta, who attempts to murder the group members for their advanced technology.
    • Escape. The group escapes the Meta, aided by Imperial Guardsman, Torrin. While the main group is busy fighting, Torrin is arrested. He explains the events, and manages to work out a deal with the police. Additionally, when the group attempts to escape the police and news crews, they run over and temporarily kill Greed, who is understandably angry.
    • When a police officer brings Torrin back to the group, a horde of zombies attacks the suburb. The chaos is added to when a sniper kills the officer, and Greed shows up, angry at Roxy. The group manages to flee.
  • Queen of Blades Plot
    • The Queen of Blades, still possessing Grace, used Mind Control to take over a number of private military companies while the Dallas Zombie Apocalypse was going on.
    • After months of planning, the Queen took a holiday, where she met Makoto. She kidnapped the squirrel girl, and took her back to her base. Sarah, a colleague of Makoto's, contacted the group. She hired the group to help her locate and rescue Makoto.
    • The group traveled to Las Vegas, where the Queen of Blades' base was. However, due to the universe not liking the existence of the Malls, the base was removed from existence, non-retroactively.
    • Because of this, everyone had to relocate back to Dallas, which had started to recover from the zombie attacks. The group managed to find the right office, and entered. This ended up in a hostage situation, worsened by police officers escaping a character trying to kill them, by running inside the building.
    • After somehow managing to rescue/kidnap Makoto, the group escaped to the Mojave Desert, where the Queen of Blades confronted them. After defeating the Queen and taking her mask, Grace regained control of her body. Unfortunately, Sarah didn't realise this, and tried to kill her. Makoto, in a fit of rage, attacked and killed Sarah.
    • While most of the group had escaped, some remained in the US. Due to their services in the Dallas Zombie Apocalypse, they were let go. However, Makoto and Grace were sent to psychiatric hospitals.
    WAOA VIII: Interdimensional Jaunt
Created by FPSFantastic. VIII centers around W.A.O.A the organisation and multiverse antics; it's an overarching plot that unfortunately did not last long before it got axed.
    WAOA IX
Created by Trilby. It has a free-from style much like the first three WAOAs and VII and, like them, is set on present day Earth with no over-arching plotline. Unlike other threads, it has a more structured Story Arc system, with each plotline getting its own act, with acts separated by player-driven intermissions.
  • The Merfolk plot (Waters of Nazareth [1])
    • Stage 1: Arrival. A mysterious merman messenger appears in Tokyo, kills a police officer (who immediately gets back up and issues a vague warning to three criminals. Not long after, a tentacled monster attacks a ship in Tokyo Bay, sinking it. The heroes attempt to rescue the people on board, with limited success. Victoria kills the messenger, but is hospitalised in the process.
    • Stage 2: Apartment Hunting. The next morning, a group of merfolk charge into an apartment building and freeze the doors shut. A flashing light is seen in a window: an SOS signal. The group enter the building, and find it to be empty, cold and damp. Upon reaching the penultimate floor, the group is attacked by the merfolk. Once they are killed, the group discovers the residents of the building on the top floor frozen to the ceiling and cut open. These corpses are revealed to be the source of the water.
