Go To

Charlie sets his crosshairs on a beautiful woman he runs into at a coffee shop, and her complete lack of interest only motivates him further. He manages to track her down at the children's dance studio she teaches at, but needs a justification for spending time around her when she continues to reject his advances. His only option is to get Jake to enroll in her ballet classes.

Tropes

  • Food as Bribe: Charlie buys Jake a massive amount of pizza and ice cream in order to butter him up before asking him to take ballet classes. Charlie has to throw $250 in to get Jake to go for it.
  • Foreshadowing: Mia's lack of interest in Charlie's advances borders on open disgust, as she clearly detects what kind of guy he is and wants no part of it. When she does eventually come around on him and they start dating in later episodes, Mia goes to great lengths to completely change Charlie into a different person.
  • Every Man Has His Price: Jake reacts about how you'd expect when Charlie proposes that he take ballet lessons, but quickly comes around when Charlie offers to pay him.
  • Hot Teacher: Mia, who is the only reason why Jake tolerates taking ballet classes.
  • Jerk with a Heart of Gold: Mia thinks she has Charlie figured out the moment they first meet, and rejects his advances firmly. However, seeing how he interacts with his eleven-year-old nephew at her ballet classes convinces her that he's more than just a playboy, which opens the door for them to start dating.
  • No-Sell: Mia is completely immune to Charlie's attempts to charm her, acting almost disgusted by him, as if she knows that he's the kind of guy who will sleep with her and then toss her aside.
  • Precocious Crush: Jake is ready to bail on the ballet classes before they even start until he sees Mia and becomes completely smitten with her.
  • Stalker with a Crush: While Charlie is a sleezeball with how he interacts with women even at the best of times, he takes it up to a new level with Mia. After she completely no-sells his attempts to hit on her at the cafe, he notes her name and her interest in dancing, then drives to every single dance studio in the area looking for her so he can keep trying to win her over.
  • Training Montage: Jake gradually improving his ballet skills to where he's not completely out of place in Mia's classes, including practicing at home with Charlie, is shown in a montage.
