Go To

Charlie tries to sweet talk Judith's divorcee support-group into letting Jake continue to spend weekends at his place.

Tropes:

  • Comically Missing the Point: In response to getting berated for his buffalo comments, Charlie invokes the "Buffalo Gals" song and sings a few bars of it. When Alan yells at him for this, Charlie is confused and remarks he didn't write the song.
  • Disproportionate Retribution: Because of something misogynistic Charlie said, Judith refuses to let Alan spend time with Jake despite their custody agreement.
  • Does Not Like Men: Judith and her angry women's support group.
  • From the Mouths of Babes: Jake parrots a line he heard Charlie say about how marriage is unnecessary if you can get a woman to clean your house and another woman to have sex with you in front of Judith and her women's support group.
  • Girl of the Week: Tiffany for Charlie.
  • Harmful to Minors: Charlie's misogynistic speech about women which Jake repeats to Judith and her friends. It's because of such that Judith decides to allow Alan to see Jake but not at Charlie's place.
  • Indy Ploy: Charlie went to Judith's to try to convince her to relent. Upon seeing Judith's friends are having a meeting, he immediately sets about getting them on his side by saying all the things they'll be receptive to and that Judith herself will react poorly to.
  • Is This Thing Still On?: When Charlie throws another misogynistic rant about women, Tiffany is able to hear him due to him not pressing the correct button on the phone.
  • Papa Wolf: Alan goes on a want on he wants to spend time with his kid. Judith and her group are unfazed.
  • Shout-Out: Charlie compares women to buffalo and starts singing the "Buffalo Gals" song.
  • Villainous BSoD: Judith, after Charlie is able to charm her feminist group over to his side and choose him over her.
  • What the Hell, Hero?: Alan chews out Charlie for his misogynistic behavior.
  • Wounded Gazelle Gambit: Charlie comments about sharing the group's concern for "our" children, to which Judith angrily asserts that he has no children. Charlie says that's fair while glumly noting how unfair that is to point out, making him look sympathetic to the rest of the group.
  • You Need to Get Laid: Evelyn says Judith should be "getting a little".
