Rebecca, the big tender engine, surprises Sir Topham Hatt by arriving early on the island. After all the other engines tell her how fast and useful they all are, Rebecca wants to impress them too. But she tries too hard that she turns up too early for the passengers and leaves early too!

- Action Girl: Rebecca, a large yellow streamlined engine who has strength and speed on par with Gordon, if not better than him, joins the main cast in this episode. She moves into Tidmouth Sheds to replace Henry, who left the group in the previous episode.
- Always Someone Better: Thomas, Gordon, James, Percy, Emily, and Nia are this to Rebecca. This is what causes her insecurity.
- An Aesop: It's okay to make mistakes. That's how you learn to do things better.
- Break the Cutie: Rebecca admires the other engines, but doesn't feel confident in herself due to her braking problems.

- Character Development: Gordon, who was somewhat still salty over Edward and Henry leaving the sheds, befriends Rebecca at the end of the episode, in spite of her replacing Henry in the sheds.
- Cheerful Child: Rebecca, a young streamlined engine with a very bright personality, and taking Percy’s title as the youngest Steam Team member. Her yellow livery also represents happiness.

- Nia tells Rebecca about the time Emily competed in the Great Railway Show.

- Rebecca arrives on Sodor much earlier than she was supposed to. She even claims she miscalculated how much time she took to stop when she crashed into Winston due to her brakes slipping.
- Similarly she tries to keep on schedule by leaving each station early, despite this obviously meaning she leaves before most of her passengers have boarded her train.
- Dislikes the New Guy: Just as he was with Nia, Gordon is rude to Rebecca for taking Henry's place. He becomes respectful to her as she defends him from the Flying Scotsman's bullying.
- Everything's Better with Rainbows: Thomas, Gordon, Percy, James, Emily, and Nia leave a rainbow streak as they fly through the air in Rebecca's fantasy sequence.
- Fire-Forged Friends: Gordon acts somewhat hostile towards Rebecca throughout the episode, due to her replacing Henry at Tidmouth Sheds, and due to her being too early. However, after Rebecca defends Gordon from the Flying Scotsman's bullying, the two become friends.
- The Friends Who Never Hang: Henry lives with Rosie at his new home in Vicarstown Sheds, despite the two never interacting previously. In contrast, Edward had some interaction with his new friend Philip before moving in with him.
