Recap / The Real Ghostbusters Slimer 31 Unidentified Sliming Object

Go To

Slimer is playing with a toy spaceship, when a real spaceship grabs it with a tractor beam. Slimer tries to grab it back, when he gets pulled up too, and lands in a chair. Robot arms strap a seatbelt on him and give him food, and a voice says he's won a vacation.

The aliens driving the spaceship watch Slimer through a viewscreen, and one of them finds him ugly but the other finds him cute. The one who called Slimer ugly says that he's their "enemy" and that they will determine his weaknesses and use that knowledge to conquer Earth.

Slimer then tries to play with his toy spaceship instead, but the remote ends up controlling the actual spaceship instead. The grumpy alien thinks Slimer's remote control is a "secret weapon" and uses the robot arm to steal it. Then, they dump him in a building on another planet, where he tries to escape from but can't.

The aliens put Slimer in a spinning machine to see if it's his weakness, but he enjoys it, then the machine goes out of control and breaks. Then, the aliens try seeing which weathers Slimer is weak to, but when they make snow he just finds it fun, and when they make wind he initially gets blown away but then he not only learns to resist it, he flies a kite. They try extreme heat, but he enjoys that too, so they turn the heat up, but he roasts sausages over the fire.

Slimer then blows up half the planet, but the aliens survive and take him back.

This episode provides examples of

  • Alien Abduction: Zigzagged. The aliens didn't deliberately kidnap Slimer (he was picked up by the tractor beam that took his toy) but they took the opportunity to exploit him being on their ship and they wouldn't let him go.
  • Aliens Are Bastards: The aliens are bent on conquering Earth.
  • Aliens Speaking English: The aliens are heard speaking English.
  • Animate Inanimate Object: One of the things the flying saucer bumps into is an anthropomorphic celestial body.
  • Circling Birdies: Slimer sees stars after failing to escape the alien building.
  • Flying Saucer:
    • Slimer plays with a saucer-shaped toy spaceship.
    • The real spaceship is also saucer-shaped.
  • Gratuitous French: When one alien says that he and his friend will determine Slimer's weaknesses to conquer Earth, the other one says, "No. I mean, yes. I mean, oui oui!".
  • Hold Your Hippogriffs: An alien says, "Conquering these puny Earthlings will be a piece of graphite" (instead of "cake").
  • "I Can't Look!" Gesture: One of the aliens puts his hand over his eyes when noting how ugly Slimer is.
  • Impromptu Campfire Cookout: When the aliens see how Slimer responds to fire, he whips out a stick with sausages and roasts them.
  • Large Ham: The smaller alien is prone to grabbing the bigger one by the collar, yelling, and making expressive angry gestures.
  • Minion with an F in Evil: The bigger alien seems to be subservient to the smaller alien since he called him "captain", and he seems to be less sure about wanting to conquer Earth and finds Slimer cute.
  • The Napoleon: The shorter alien is grumpier and more keen on world domination.
  • Non-Fatal Explosions: Exaggerated when the aliens survive half their planet blowing up.
  • Screw This, I'm Outta Here: Slimer decides to just fly away the moment he's taken to the building (but he can't).
  • Space Episode: The episode involves Slimer ending up on a spaceship and being taken to another planet.
  • Take Over the World: The aliens want to find out what Slimer's weaknesses are so they can conquer Earth.
  • Tractor Beam: The spaceship picks things up with a beam of red light.
  • Wild Take: The small alien's eyes bulge out when he sees that Slimer is not weak to the snow and in fact enjoys it.
