When Flash is seemingly killed by a bomber, Twilight continues to see what appears to be his ghost.
- And I Must Scream: Flash ends up stuck in a Partial Transformation that causes him to be invisible and intangible to the whole world around him. He found out he can become partially visible by concentrating, but was only able to get Twilight's attention at first. Azmuth eventually reveals that if they don't get Flash out of that state soon he'll be stuck like that forever. Flash gives his approval to go through the process to save him despite the risk, believing a quick and painless death if something goes wrong is better than being stuck like this.
- Appropriated Appellation: The bomber calls Flash a "freak" when demanding he show himself. This gives Flash the inspiration to name his new alien "Ghostfreak".
- The Bus Came Back: Azmuth returns to Earth after having left since the incident with the hybrids due to hearing news of what happened to Flash and the Omnitrix. Upon learning that someone is supplying crooks with alien tech he stays to help search.
- A Day in the Limelight: The majority of this chapter focuses on Twilight as she deals with Flash's apparent death and constantly seeing what seems to be his ghost.
- Dramatic Irony: With Ghostfreak unlocked in the Omnitrix, Flash is unaware that the enemy his future self had warned him about is closer than he realizes.
- Force Feeding: After Flash says he hasn't eaten anything in almost a week, Pinkie pulls a muffin out of her hair and shoves it into his mouth.
- Hero Killer: The bomber constantly boasts that he killed Flash Sentry after it seems like Flash died in the bomb that he set. It is subverted though when it is revealed Flash is just stuck in a Partial Transformation, and even when he tries to interfere in everyone's attempt to save him he is too late.
- No Name Given: The bomber never has his name revealed. This is lampshaded in the final scene when Dragstar refers to him as a "no name loser".
- Outliving One's Offspring: It initially seems like this has happened with Flash's parents, Trail Blazer and Misty Vail, after his apparent death, with them being an absolute wreck and not having bothered to wash up or sleep in days. Subverted when Flash is revealed to be alive, with them tearfully reuniting with their son.
- Prefer Jail to the Protagonist: Played for Horror when Flash, as Ghostfreak for the first time, delivers a No-Holds-Barred Beatdown to the bomber and completely terrifies him. He throws himself at Shining's feet giving up, begging him to get him away from that "monster". This serves as early foreshadowing to Ghostfreak's true evil nature.
- Real After All: At first, it seems like Flash's ghost is just Twilight's imagination trying to process his "death", with him always disappearing without anyone else seeing him. However, he is revealed to be real when all of Twilight's friends see him during a sleepover at Twilight's house.
- Relocating the Explosion: Defied when Flash tries to move the bomber's detonator out of the mall, only for it to be magnetized to the floor.
- Reports of My Death Were Greatly Exaggerated: After Flash vanishes following a bomb detonating, everyone believes him to be dead, when in reality, he was in a state where he was intangible and invisible to everything. The town was greatly relieved to learn he was still alive.
- Ship Tease: This chapter drops some between Flash and Twilight again. Twilight is one of the ones that grieves Flash's apparent death the hardest, and Flash is initially only able to appear to her after initially trying and failing with both Shining and Sunset.
- Trash the Set: The Canterlot City Mall, which has been a major location of the EQG world, is destroyed by a bomb.
- Wedgie: Ghostfreak gives the bomber "the greatest of all wedgies" when beating him up while invisible.
- Wham Episode: Flash unlocks Ghostfreak, whose true nature is subtly hinted at as he viciously takes down the bomber. Also, Viral's body is complete, and she and the other villains of the team-up are ready for revenge against Flash.
