Recap / The Omnitrix Hero S 3 E 6 Good Copy, Bad Copy

Go To

Flash is framed for a crime he didn't commit by someone that looks exactly like him and can transform just like he can. His friends set off to clear his name and discover who is the real culprit.

  • Appropriated Appellation: When Flash confronts his clone, he calls it "a shadow cast by the light of the original". The clone decides he likes that name, officially naming himself Shadow.
  • Bittersweet Ending: More towards sweet than bitter. Negatine and Shadow are defeated and arrested, with Azmuth stripping Shadow of his Omnitrix's power core, rendering him powerless, and Flash is cleared of all charges and has the public's trust back. However, Flash realizes how fragile that trust is now, but resolves he will just need to work harder to ensure nothing like this will happen again.
  • Chekhov's Gun: The P.O.V. Cam that Twilight installs in her glasses ends up being key to proving Flash's innocence.
  • Curse Cut Short: When Twilight chases Negatine and magically pulls his machine off his back and rips several wires that were connected to his gauntlets, Negatine shouts "You little b-" before he is interrupted by Twilight throwing his device back at him.
  • Death by Adaptation: Though Azmuth doesn't get into any specific details or name anyone, he claims that the only other one who possessed the knowledge and ability to replicate the Omnitrix died a long time ago, implying that Albedo is dead in this settingnote .
  • Engineered Public Confession: Twilight manages to prove Flash's innocence by using the new miniature camera in her glasses. While chasing Negatine trying to get him to confess to framing Flash, Shadow, the clone of Flash that he created, arrives to help him and gloats to Twilight how he framed Flash and she'll never be able to prove it. Twilight just smirks and uploads the captured footage online, proving Flash's innocence, and him almost immediately arriving to help her.
  • Frame-Up: Negatine creates a permanent clone of Flash and sends him off to commit crimes, with the real Flash takig the blame and getting locked up.
  • Mythology Gag: Flash being framed for a crime he didn't commit is similar to how Kevin framed Ben for various crimes using his alien forms, and the Shapeshifter Showdown between Flash and Shadow is similar to the first fight between Ben and Albedo, right down to their Omnitrixes clashing together and Shadow's human form becoming different to Flash's.
  • Not Helping Your Case: As Shining Armor pointed out to Flash after he was arrested, because he had run off immediately to confront Shadow when he was attacking the armored car, they were unable to give Flash an alibi for being at Plumber Headquarters during the attack.
  • Not What It Looks Like: After Shadow escapes and leaves Flash to face the police during their first encounter, he tries to explain he wasn't the one that attacked the armored van, even changing back and putting his arms up peacefully to show he won't attack them. Unfortunately, it doesn't work and they end up tasering him.
  • Police Brutality: Flash's mother voices her displeasure with the police for not only arresting her son, but also tasering him.
  • Psychic Nosebleed: Twilight gets a trickle of blood from her nose when she struggles to hold some rubble in her magic.
  • Shapeshifter Showdown: Flash and Shadow have one in the climax of the chapter, with both of them constantly changing alien forms. They change so much it soon becomes impossible to tell who is which alien, until they both change back to normal and try to continue the fight in human form.
  • Shout-Out:
  • We Will Meet Again: Upon being defeated and stripped of his Omnitrix's core, as Shadow is being arrested, he vows that he will be back to claim Flash's Omnitrix.
