Now that Flash is publicly known as an alien superhero, he needs to make sure not to make any mistakes in the field or it will affect his reputation. The appearance of a strange new alien creature ends up putting him to the test, as he struggles to stop it and face the pressure of the media at the same time.
- Condescending Compassion:While listening to the radio and the news about Flash's first encounter with Drift is being mentioned, which didn't go well due to the Omnitrix not letting Flash transform until he scanned the uncatalogued DNA, when one person is talking down about how Flash was standing around not doing anything, another person tries speaking in his defense saying he clearly just panicked due to the situation since he apparently has no formal training. Flash can't tell if that is better or worse, and feels insulted by the implication he lacks combat training.
- Girls Love Stuffed Animals: Discussed; when the news covers Flash successfully stopping Drift, it shows him transforming into Pesky Dust and putting him to sleep, with the reporter joking they've found the alien every girl will want a plushie of.
- Godzilla Threshold: Since Azmuth can't stop the Omnitrix from occasionally transforming Flash into the wrong alien, he does the next best thing and locks one of his more dangerous aliens, Way Big, behind a locking mechanism so Flash won't accidentally transform into him and cause an accident, like while inside a building. Now, Flash can only transform into Way Big by selecting him while in human form and entering a seven digit code, meaning he should only use it when he really needs it.
- I Lied: A heroic example; Azmuth reveals that he lied in the previous chapter when he told the world leaders it would take him centuries to create another Omnitrix. He only told them that to stop them from demanding he build each country on Earth one of their own, and he is already currently working on the new model of the Omnitrix, though admits it will still be difficult.
- It Can Think: The Griffon proves it isn't a mindless creature when it understands Flash's attempts to comfort it, and shows its ability to speak when it repeats the name Flash gives it, Drift.
- Mythology Gag:
- When Azmuth tells Flash to recalibrate the Omnitrix on a regular basis, he says that if the Omnitrix has a recalibration big enough, such as if it wasn't used for years, then it would reset Flash to ten new aliens, exactly what happened when Ben used the Omnitrix after 5 years at the start of Alien Force.
- Flash starts doing a Transformation Name Announcement, a similar habit that Ben did.
- Flash and his friends are now on the look out for five hybrids, based on creatures native to Equestria with DNA from humans and other aliens, and Flash can scan them into the Omnitrix to transform into them. This is similar to the Andromeda aliens plot from Ultimate Alien.
- Nice Job Breaking It, Hero: This is discussed briefly when Azmuth tells Flash he needs to recalibrate the Omnitrix regularly to allow for software updates, since Flash has only recalibrated it once before. The whole reason Flash wanted to avoid recalibrating if possible was due to a fear it would reset his aliens and give him new ones he knew nothing about, though Azmuth says this is only possible if the Omnitrix has a large recalibration, like if it isn't used for several years. This still convinces Flash to recalibrate the Omnitrix about every month.
- Non-Malicious Monster: Drift is revealed to be this. He is initially thought to be a dangerous rampaging monster, but Fluttershy points out maybe he is just scared. It is revealed that Drift is indeed not purposely trying to harm anyone, and is only lashing out because he doesn't know where he is and a device in his neck is causing him great pain.
- Super-Scream: Drift has one, thanks to having Loboan DNA.
- Take a Third Option: After Flash hears on the radio others talking negatively about him after the first battle with Drift, Shining Armor tells him he can either keep moaning about it, or work to improve himself and make less mistakes in the future. Flash asks if he can moan about it while working to improve himself, which Shining Armor says is acceptable.
- Transformation Name Announcement: Flash starts doing this after Trixie suggests it, to both strike fear into his enemies and let the innocent people know who is saving them.
