Recap / The Omnitrix Hero S 3 E 1 World Famous

Go To

Following Vilgax's failed invasion and Flash's secret being exposed, Flash was arrested and brought before the President of the United States and the rest of the world's leaders to decide what would happen to him and the Omnitrix. Azmuth arrives and threatens to take the Omnitrix off-world unless Flash is the one to have it, and now Flash must prove himself to the world leaders.

  • Answer Cut: The beginning of the chapter has a news anchor giving a report about Flash and his arrest, ending by saying that one can only wonder what he is thinking about at this moment. The next scene immediately begins with Flash groaning that his food sucks as he eats a ham sandwich in his prison cell.
  • Call-Back: Flash states he has experience with bank robbers and alien bank robbers, referring to the events of "Ten Aliens and a Baby" and "Ice to Meet You" respectively.
  • Cutting the Knot: Although U-Reek-Ah is able to mostly disarm the bomb himself, he runs into a problem when he doesn't know which blue wire to pull at the end since a second one was added as a failsafe. Rather than leave it to a 50/50 chance, he simply lets the crooks in and have them pull the correct wire themselves, to save the money they are trying to rob.
  • "Eureka!" Moment: Flash gets one as his alien U-Reek-Ah. Realizing he doesn't know which wire to cut to disarm the bomb the crooks setup, he instead unlocks the vault and lets the crooks in, telling them the money will be destroyed if they don't disarm their own bomb.
  • Hero with Bad Publicity: Zig-zagged throughout the chapter. Flash is arrested after his secret is exposed, and the beginning of the chapter has a montage of interviews with citizens of Canterlot, with some condemning him for playing hero and putting their city in danger while others praise him for all his heroics. It is subverted at the very end of the chapter when Flash returns to CHS for the first time since his secret was exposed, with everyone there seemingly not happy to see him at first, until Ringo and Brawly lead everyone into clapping and cheering for Flash.
  • Just a Kid: Flash is referred to as a "boy" or a "kid" throughout the chapter by various people, much to his annoyance.
  • Mythology Gag: This chapter is heavily based on the first episode of Ben 10: Ultimate Alien, with Flash dealing with the fallout of his secret being revealed to the world, dealing with a bomb, and returning to his school and being applauded by everyone there.
  • Persona Non Grata: The President explains that since the other countries don't have an Omnitrix of their own, as long as Flash has it, he can't enter another country without permission or else it will be seen as an act of war.
  • Prefer Jail to the Protagonist: Played for Laughs when the crooks are blasted by U-Reek-Ah's gas. They run out of the bank and immediately surrender to the police, begging to be arrested and to keep U-Reek-Ah away from them.
  • So Proud of You: Principal Celestia tells Flash that he's done the school proud.
  • Take That!: Azmuth says Flash has taken good care of the Omnitrix so far, saying he expected his species to do something stupid like break the faceplate off, with Flash asking rhetorically what kind of idiot would do that anyway. This is a blatant reference to the time Ben did the exact same thing in one of his biggest Too Dumb to Live moments.
  • Would Hurt a Child: One of the Asian leaders suggests they cut off Flash's arm to get the Omnitrix off him, to the horror of Flash, his parents, and all his friends. Luckily though the President nixes that suggestion.
