CHS is on a field trip to a dig site of one of Principal Celestia's old friends, Ancient Bones, to look at the dinosaur bones they have uncovered. But the trip takes a dangerous turn when three criminals, in an attempt to steal the bones set off several explosives and end up getting themselves, Flash, and Trixie trapped underground, where they discover a home to some unexpected creatures.
- Calling Your Attacks: Riot-Horn yells "SOLAR STRIKER!" as he lands his final attack against the flying alien dinosaur.
- Children Are Innocent: Flash and Trixie meet and befriend a baby dinosaur. It ends up following them as they try to run away from its mother, not realizing she is chasing them because they are too close to it.
- Dinosaur Doggie Bone: Spike is excited to see dinosaur bones specifically so he can try snacking on them and doesn't care about dinosaurs themselves. He never gets the chance to try though, since Twilight keeps a tight grip on him during their visit.
- Outside-Context Problem: Trixie notes how the Rainbooms are no match for the flying dinosaur creature, while stating if it had been made of Equestrian Magic they probably would have beaten it by now.
- Save the Villain: Diamondhead saves Big Score, Rickashay, and Boulder when the dinosaurs attack them for trying to steal their younglings. Though he makes sure to trap them in his crystals so they can be arrested later, and makes the ride very uncomfortable for them.
- Shout-Out: When Volt-Edge zaps Trixie awake, Trixie asks "Is The Rock president?" as she wakes up.
