Recap / The Omnitrix Hero S 1 E 15 Revelations

Go To

The Rainbooms are becoming increasingly suspicious of Flash's sporadic disappearances so he can use his Omnitrix, while Vilgax decides to take matters into his own hands after one too many failures.

  • Big Damn Heroes: Trixie, Shining Armor, and the Rainbooms bust into Vilgax's ship to save Flash, just before Vilgax can cut off Flash's arm to get the Omnitrix.
  • Casual Danger Dialogue: Twilight tries to question Volt-Edge on how he and the other aliens are connected to Flash Sentry in the middle of a battle. Volt-Edge for his part thinks she has some serious Skewed Priorities trying to ask him this now.
  • Cliffhanger: The chapter ends with Flash's identity being exposed to the Rainbooms, with them silently communicating to Flash that he has a lot of explaining to do.
  • Determinator: Shining Armor says that once Twilight wants to learn the truth behind something she won't stop until she has proof her assumptions are wrong. Unfortunately in this case, her assumption Flash is connected to the aliens isn't wrong, and since they can't fake Flash being near the aliens and none of Flash's aliens can inflict Laser-Guided Amnesia on her, the only suggestion Shining has for him is to come clean.
  • Dramatic Irony: Upon seeing how tough Vilgax was, Flash wondered why he played Orcus on His Throne for so long, unaware that Vilgax had been confined to a Healing Vat since he first got the Omnitrix.
  • Dramatic Unmask: Vilgax essentially does a mask-less version of this with Flash. During their battle in the city, he forces Flash back to normal by pressing the Omnitrix symbol, thus revealing Flash's true form to him, as well as the onlooking Rainbooms.
  • Forced Transformation: Flash goes through several of these when the Omnitrix is affected by a power surge, changing him from alien to alien without any control. This both hurts him (changing from Diamondhead to Chamalien while attacking) and helps him (changing into Goop to avoid a potentially fatal punch) at times during his ensuing battle with Vilgax.
  • Hey, You!: Spike doesn't initially remember Flash's name. When he remembers he has seen the Omnitrix symbol before, he recalls he saw it on "that guy", and after trying to remember can only recall his first name "Flash" after some thought. Though Twilight quickly figures out he is referring to Flash Sentry.
  • Hoist by His Own Petard: Flash escapes from Vilgax while he is distracted by his ship's damage and uses a large cable to zap Vilgax right in his new cybernetics in his arms, cooking him alive and leaving him vulnerable long enough he is stuck on his ship as it takes off out of his control while Flash escapes.
  • Hostage Situation: After defeating all of Flash's friends, Vilgax threatens to kill them, if he doesn't surrender. Flash obliges and Vilgax knocks him out so he can prepare to destroy Earth.
  • Internal Reveal: The Rainbooms finally learn about the Omnitrix and how Flash has been using it, and how Trixie and Shining Armor have been helping him.
  • It's a Long Story: When the Rainbooms finally learn Flash's secret, Trixie doesn't have the time or patience to tell them the whole story, so she just has Sunset read her mind to see everything that has happened since Flash found the Omnitrix.
  • The Juggernaut: Vilgax is shown to be practically unstoppable in a straight fight. Flash's attacks barely slow him down, and only really gains an advantage against him due to the Omnitrix randomly transforming him due to a power surge.
  • Just a Kid: Vilgax is shocked to discover the wielder of the Omnitrix, who has been a thorn in his side for the last few months, is "a mere child". Flash is annoyed by this, since he is almost seventeen and will be eighteen, a legal adult, next year.
  • Kill All Humans: Besides retrieving Flash's Omnitrix, Vilgax also intends to wipe out humanity by destroying Earth.
  • Mythology Gag:
    • Flash is annoyed when Vilgax calls him a "child", stating he'll be eighteen a year from next month. Kevin Levin similarly said to Vilgax he would be eighteen "a year from next Tuesday" in the finale of Alien Force.
    • When Vilgax is attacking Shining Armor, he rants about how humans destroyed his "cherry tree" and tried to blow him up with a nuclear weapon. Both of these incidents are moments from Vilgax's origins in canon, from "A New Dawn" and "Truth" respectively.
  • Neck Lift: Vilgax does this to Twilight, and threatens to pop her head off like a bottle top unless Flash surrenders.
  • Punched Across the Room: Vilgax punches Volt-Edge through two buildings, and he leaves a trench in the street as he slows to a halt.
  • Punch! Punch! Punch! Uh Oh...: This happens to Flash when Vilgax is able to No-Sell his attacks. Most prominent when he literally starts punching him as Diamondhead, only to realize that his own fists have broken apart until he has nothing above his wrists.
  • Right for the Wrong Reasons: The Rainbooms correctly realize that Flash is somehow connected to the ten alien heroes appearing around Canterlot and that his mysterious "watch" is involved somehow. However, they incorrectly assume Flash uses it to contact the aliens somehow, or after seeing him transform back to normal, that he trades places with them. Trixie and Shining Armor eventually explain to them that the aliens are Flash, with the Omnitrix transforming him into them.
  • Sadistic Choice: Vilgax forces one on Flash towards the end of the chapter. Either surrender himself to him and allow him to take the Omnitrix, or he will kill all of his friends in front of him, starting with Twilight, whom Flash is implied to still have feelings for.
  • Season Finale: This acts as the first "season finale" of The Omnitrix Hero.
  • Secret Chaser: Twilight and the rest of the Rainbooms briefly become this toward Flash after Spike points out Flash's "watch" has the same symbol that's on the alien heroes, leading them to question him what connection he has to them. They eventually get their answer when they see Vilgax change Flash back to normal from his alien form, with Trixie and Shining Armor explaining the rest to them.
  • Small Role, Big Impact: Spike only appears in the opening scene with Twilight, but he recognizes the Omnitrix symbol on the aliens and tells Twilight about how Flash has the same symbol on his watch, making Twilight and the other Rainbooms much more suspicious of Flash and indirectly leading to them discovering his secret.
  • Virtue Is Weakness: Vilgax declares the wielder of the Omnitrix has already revealed their greatest weakness through their heroics, and decides that instead of waiting for them to use the Omnitrix, he will make them come to him. He uses this against Flash again towards the end, threatening Twilight and the rest of his friends unless he surrenders.
  • Wham Episode: Not only is this chapter where Flash and Vilgax finally meet each other in the flesh, it's also the point where the Rainbooms finally discover Flash was the alien vigilante they've kept seeing.
