  • Call-Back: The Critic was disappointed that the monster was not Donkey Kong or Jesus, referring to his speculations back when he looked at the movie's trailer.
  • Not His Sled: His reenactment of the movie is mostly spot on, but when it comes to the part where the monster eats him...
Critic: Oh my God, he spat me out! He spat— (filming his television, which is playing Lost) Oh my God, he spat me onto the island from Lost! Locke, Locke, did you see the giant monster? He was so creepy! Hey, is that guy from Lord of the Rings really dead? I liked that guy! He was cool!
  • Permanent Placeholder: The Critic points out that the movie still carries a title which was supposed to be a codeword and not a real title.invoked
  • Punctuated! For! Emphasis!: "This... film... was... okay!"
  • So Okay, It's Average: Invoked. "How's the monster? It's okay. How's the acting? It's okay. How are the special effects? IT'S ALL OKAY! It's like a giant, flaming, nuclear ball of adequacy!"
  • Subverted Catchphrase: "I'm the Nostalgia Critic, I remember it because it's... adequate."
