This episode has examples of

  • Badly Battered Babysitter. When Fozzie tries to entertain the Babies with jokes, they gang up on him. In an effort to prove to Kermit that she's mother material, Piggy takes over, but they quickly run amok in her dressing room.
  • Flower-Pot Drop: When Fozzie as a policeman tries to arrest Link Hogthrob as a gang member in the "Macho Man" number, a man standing on a rooftop above them saves Link by dropping a flowerpot on Fozzie's head.
  • Furry Reminder: Victor reveals that he was paid with a bone for his performance. Rowlf realizes it's his pay and eagerly snatches it up. "Ooh! Hot dog! I just got a raise!"
  • The Man in the Mirror Talks Back: And sings along, as shown in Gonzo's "Act Naturally" number.
  • Tired After the Song: Victor plays Ludwig van Beethoven's "Moonlight Sonata" for Fozzie and the bust of Beethoven. It puts all three of them to sleep.
  • Troll: The turtle in the Swedish Chef's sketch refuses to cooperate, hiding its limbs in its shell and laughing at the Chef as he tries to follow the recipe. At one point, the Chef reaches for the turtle's head, and it's implied that the turtle bit him.

Statler: So Borge played The Muppet Show.
Waldorf: Yep. Who won?
Statler: This time, Victor was the loser!
