This episode has examples of

  • Attack! Attack... Retreat! Retreat!: A non-combat version. After the failure of the opening number, Fozzie is convinced that what the audience wants is comedy. He's soon proven wrong.
Fozzie: [getting on stage] Hiya, hiya, hiya, hiya!
    [The audience boos him.]
    Fozzie: [getting off stage] Bye-a, bye-a, bye-a, bye-a, bye-a!
  • Big "SHUT UP!": Tired of the audience booing as Beaker tries to sing, Animal shouts "QUIET!!!" It actually works... for about a minute.
  • Explosive Stupidity: Link demonstrates this when Dr. Strangepork accidentally drops Link's lighter under the control panel, next to a tank of nitroglycerin.
Strangepork: Oh, do you want a flashlight? It's dark under there.
Link: No, I'll just strike a match.
    Strangepork: A match? [Dashes off.]
    [KABOOM!]
  • Find Out Next Time: Defied in the "Pigs in Space" sketch, after the explosion.
Narrator: Is this the end of "Pigs in Space"?
    Audience: [cheering] YEAH!
Narrator: Well, tune in again next time for...
    Audience: NO!
Narrator: All right then, don't. See if I care.
  • Hold Up Your Score: Statler and Waldorf decide to rate the acts this week. They mostly give low marks, so Kermit is ecstatic when they give Diana Ross a ten... until they inform him that they're rating her against the rest of the show. When Fozzie is booed off the moment he steps on stage, Waldorf gives him a generous "1" because "He's never been better."
  • Produce Pelting: Gonzo's act is met with this from the increasingly hostile audience, and he doesn't even get a chance to start it.
  • Stripped to the Bone: A non-lethal example. When the Gills Brothers are singing "Aunt Chovy", the audience not only boos them but starts Produce Pelting them. By the time they get backstage, they've been reduced to talking fish skeletons in tuxedoes.
Scooter: Pretty rough out there, huh?
Brother #1: Oh! They were layin' for us!
Scooter: Why do you say that?
Brother #1: One guy brought a bottle of tartar sauce!
  • Took a Level in Jerkass: The audience is exceptionally nasty in tonight's episode, and support Statler and Waldorf's slating of the performance (to the point of demanding a full "0" when they believe their mark is too generous).
  • The Unreveal: Whatever Gonzo's "Indescribable" act isnote , we never find out, as the audience cuts him off with Produce Pelting before he can even begin.

[Statler and Waldorf are seen sleeping while holding scoreboards that say "ZZZ".]
