This episode has examples of

  • Actually Pretty Funny: Kermit chortles along with Floyd's observation about Gonzo's success rate.
  • Adaptational Villainy: Friar Tuck in most stories is Robin's ally. Due to her jealousy, Miss Piggy's version of Tuck helps the Sheriff's men capture Maid Marian.
  • Almost Famous Name: The "author of tonight's drama" is introduced in a backstage scene as William Shakespeare — not the William Shakespeare, just a William Shakespeare.
  • Almost Kiss: Kermit and Lynn, in character as Robin Hood and Maid Marian, sing a beautiful love duet and are about to kiss when Miss Piggy invents a blatant excuse to come on stage and interrupt.
  • Drop the Cow: The Newsreader gets a pot dropped on his head the minute he's done with his news report.
  • Dumb Muscle: Robin's competitor in the archery contest, Black Bart, is described by Scooter as having "the strength of an ox, the nerves of a fox, and the brains of a gooseberry flan."
  • Hoist by His Own Petard: Miss Piggy has Lynn abducted and replaced so she can be Maid Marian. Kermit and the others refuse to "rescue" her and go to save Lynn from her dressing room, leaving Piggy tied up on set. Her cries for help only bring Gonzo.
  • I Kiss Your Hand: When Lynn makes her entrance as Maid Marian, she holds out her hand for Robin Hood AKA Kermit to kiss, which he does several times.
  • Lame Pun Reaction:
Kermit as Robin Hood: Hold fast, good sir, lest I strike you again with my quarterstaff!
Guard: That's a cheap weapon. Mine cost fifty cents.
Kermit as Robin Hood: That's a cheap joke. You'll pay for that!
  • Let's Get Dangerous!: While it's hard to tell if it's part of the show or not, the normally mild-mannered Kermit does knock out two guards to rescue Lynn.
  • Painful Rhyme: Scooter does one so bad that Fozzie interrupts to ask about it when he rhymes "in sooth" with "living fast and looth".
Scooter: Come on, give me a break, I'm usually the go-fer around here!
  • Paper-Thin Disguise: Robin Hood's disguise for the archery contest is a pair of Nerd Glasses and a bright red false beard. Apart from that, he's wearing the same outfit he wears in every other scene.
  • Reading the Stage Directions Out Loud: Fozzie's idea of cavorting involves literally dancing around saying "Cavort, cavort, cavort, cavort..."
  • Springtime for Hitler: Kermit worries that Gonzo is trying to get himself killed (again), but Floyd points out that since Gonzo always fails at everything he tries, he'll never succeed.
Floyd: The best he can hope for is "hideously maimed".
  • Torture Technician: Gonzo as the Sheriff of Nottingham has Lynn as Maid Marian in his torture chamber to intimidate her into giving away the location of Robin's hideout. But in demonstrating the torture devices, Gonzo is the one who ends up being tortured. (Being Gonzo, however, he rather enjoys it.)
  • Wandering Minstrel: Scooter takes the role of Alan-a-Dale, narrating the story in rhyme.

Statler: The legend of Robin Hood will never die.
Waldorf: No, but it sure got wounded pretty bad tonight.
