This episode has examples of

  • Coconut Meets Cranium: The Swedish Chef attempts to break open a coconut with his "boom-boom" (a gun). He tosses the coconut into the air and shoots, but gets a rubber chicken instead. While he mutters confusedly about the chicken, the coconut hits him right in the head.
  • Establishing Character Moment: This is the first appearance of resident Jerkass J. P. Grosse, Scooter's uncle, who owns the theater and plans to tear it down.
  • Faceplanting into Food: The Swedish Chef plants his face into a bowl of salad after taking a coconut to the head.
  • Failed a Spot Check:
    • At the end of the Koozebanian Phoob interview, Statler suddenly notices that Waldorf's chair is now empty. He glances around for him, not seeing that Waldorf has fallen out of the theater box and is desperately clinging to its edge.
Statler: Wonderful! Very funny! Eh, Waldorf? [Sees that Waldorf's chair is empty.] Hey, I wonder where he went? He was here a minute ago, watching the Phoob and falling down laughing.
[The camera moves to show Waldorf clinging to the edge of the box.]
Waldorf: I'm still falling, but I've stopped laughing.
    • In the U.K. spot, Sam is sitting in Waldorf's chair, asking Statler why he always watches the show. Meanwhile, both are oblivious to Waldorf's cries for help as he continues to hang from the edge of the box. At the end, when Waldorf has resorted to trying to climb back in...
Sam: [talking about Waldorf] But... but wherever he is, it's good to know that at least we have you two gentlemen here to provide dignity and decency.
[Sam bangs his fist on the edge of the box... right on Waldorf's hand. He loses his grip and falls with a crash.]
  • Let's Meet the Meat: Indirectly. Kermit interviews the Koozebanian Phoob, a creature with the misfortune of being the most delicious creature on Koozebane. To survive, Phoobs have developed the ability to rapidly evolve into different forms in order to blend in. The Phoob demonstrates by evolving into a clone of Kermit, complete with reporter outfit.
Phoob: [in Kermit's voice] Uh, this is Kermit the Frog, returning you to...
    Kermit: I'm Kermit the Frog!
    Phoob: I am!
    Kermit: I am!
[Kermit and the Phoob begin wrestling, pausing briefly to look at the camera.]
Kermit and Phoob: [in unison] Uh, these are Kermit the Frogs, returning you to The Muppet Show.
    [They resume wrestling.]
Kermit: You can't do that! Will you stop! [to camera] I'm the real Kermit, folks.
  • Screw This, I'm Outta Here: After the "Pigs in Space" sketch, Sam announces he's disassociating himself from the show. He doesn't get very far, as the UK spot shows him up in Statler and Waldorf's box, chatting with Statler.
  • Stuff Blowing Up: Crazy Harry lets one of his explosions loose in Judy's dressing room in The Teaser.
  • Swallowed a Fly: The title character in "I Know an Old Lady" does this. She then swallows a spider, a bird, a cat, a dog...

Waldorf: This theater's solid as rock. Watch this!
[Stomps on the balcony floor and falls through it.]
