This episode has examples of

  • Brick Joke: The cow just shows up backstage without any apparent explanation. At the end of the episode, Julie asks, "Has anyone seen my cow?"
  • Hypocritical Humor: Sam's editorial is against conservationists impeding progress. He quietly drops the subject when he reads a list of endangered animals and realizes one of them is the bald eagle.
  • Interspecies Romance: Gonzo develops an attraction for the cow.
  • Literal-Minded: After the Swedish Chef draws lines on the cow to slice up for barbecuing, Kermit tells Scooter to erase the cow. Scooter gets confused cause he thinks Kermit means the cow himself.
  • Mythology Gag: Julie's first song, "The Lonely Goatherd" was sung by her in The Sound of Music, and the scene itself had Julie's character playing marionettes.
  • Oh, Crap!: Kermit has this reaction when Scooter tells him that he had the Swedish Chef take the cow.

[Gonzo is seen with the cow.]
The Great Gonzo: Wanna, uh, go to a movie or... grab a steak?
