Recap / The Mask S 2 E 16 Mr Mask Goes To Washington

Go To

After saving the President of the United States from getting crushed by a falling chunk of building, The President takes an instant liking to The Mask, and makes him his personal bodyguard upsetting his former bodyguard, Greenfield who does everything he can to prove that The Mask is a blotch on the President's image.

Tropes:

  • A Day in the Limelight: The Mask appears entirely in this episode with Stanley not appearing in this one and it shows The Mask becoming a bodyguard for the President, then dealing with people who do not like him and thinking that he will ruin their PR for them.
  • Bittersweet Ending: The Mask loses his job because Greenfield exposes him doing something illegal but however he does get payback by turning the top of the United States Capitol into his own image which for him it's a win.
  • Dog Walks You: After Greenfield gets in trouble as he pulls the President through the wall accidentally when he was trying to pull The Mask through, he gets punished by walking the President's dog which he does not like doing and while he is walking with dog, the dog sees a leaf then decides to chase it dragging Greenfield along which then ends with him being hit by a tree.
  • Jerk with a Heart of Gold: The Mask is this as he stops a part of a building that collapsed into his favourite taco stand but he does save Mayor Tilton and the President from being crushed by it as well.
  • Friend to All Living Things: The Mask saves lobsters from being used as food and frees them all even though it got him into trouble with Kellaway and Doyle.
  • Goofy Print Underwear: Greenfield tries to arrest The Mask but however The Mask decides to use one of the chicken legs he has with him to go all around his trousers which causes it to go down and Greenfield's striped pants are exposed for everyone to see which causes humiliation for him as everyone laughs at his underwear and causes him to get The Mask exposed even more.
  • Everyone Has Standards: When dressing up to go out for the theatre The Mask decides to dress up as Abraham Lincoln but however he is disgusted when he sees himself dress up in it seeing that it is in bad taste because of what happened so he decide to dress up for something different for the theatre instead.
  • Surprisingly Realistic Outcome: The Mask is exposed for taking a bribe and he is fired for it showing that it does not matter if you are the assistant to the President of the United States or you are a famous superhero The US government has laws and therefore The Mask cannot work for them again.
