What Lies Beneath

Dante buries a mysterious bundle underneath a nameless tombstone at the Royal Woods Cemetery, but when his friends discover it and try to give the interred a proper burial, he tries to stop his fellow Morticians from uncovering his secret.
  • A Day in the Limelight: For Dante.
  • Bait-and-Switch: The rest of the Mortician's Club are shocked to discover that Dante buried "Auntie Pam". It's then revealed that by that they meant "Auntie Pam's ice cream".
  • Foreshadowing: As the Mortician's Club are helping the groundskeeper maintain the cemetery, Dante is riding on the lawn mower when Morpheus, who wants a turn, voices his displeasure, calling him the "worst sharer ever". Turns out whatever Dante buried isn't morbid or embarrassing, it was his secret stash of cookies and scream flavor ice cream that he didn't want the others to know about. Upon learning this, Morpheus once again says "worst sharer ever".
  • Line-of-Sight Name: When pretending to be possessed by the supposed spirit, Dante comes up with the name Ernie Shovelgate, based on a nearby urn, the knee of a gargoyle, a shovel, and the cemetery gate.
  • Theme Naming: Dante is named after Dante Alighieri, and his cat is appropriately named after the historical Dante's poetic idol, Virgil.
