This episode contains examples of:

  • Antagonist Title: The episode is, of course, named after it's main villainous crime lord: Mama Binturong.
  • A Day in the Limelight: For Bunga, with him being the one to confront Mama Binturong at the end.
  • The Dreaded: The inhabitants of the forest that she lives near are terrified of Mama Binturong due to her attitude towards taking their tuliza. In fact, merely saying the word "tuliza" is enough to scare them.
  • Does This Remind You of Anything?: Mama Binturong's obsession with tuliza, including keeping a large hidden stash and stealing Makini's staff to get her fix is reminiscent of a drug addict.
  • The Queenpin: Mama Binturong essentially runs the forest like a mob boss, sending out her porcupine henchmen to collect the tuliza for her while terrorizing the inhabitants.
  • Skyward Scream: Mama Binturong gives one when she finds out that all her tuliza has been ruined by Bunga.
  • Villain Song: "You Best Not Mess with Mama" is sung by Mama Binturong and it outlines her motivations for taking everyone's tuliza.
  • Villainous Breakdown: Mama Binturong goes through one during the climax. She manages to keep her cool throughout most of her confrontation with Bunga, but starts to slip when Bunga eats some of her tuliza just to annoy her, but regains her composure fairly quickly. She completely snaps, however, when Bunga uses his stink to kill most of her tuliza, vowing revenge on Bunga for what he did.
Mama Binturong: My tuliza! It's ruined!
Smun: We'll get more Tuliza.
Mama Binturong: No! I'm through with tuliza and this whole forest! There's just one thing I want now. I want to get that Bunga!
  • What the Hell, Hero?: None of the Lion Guard are impressed with Bunga when he keeps scaring off animals by saying "tuliza".
  • Xenophobic Herbivore: Mama Binturong's porcupines, who are introduced as the series' first villainous herbivores.
