After getting knocked out by an automaton while defending the castle, Zelda accuses Link of sleeping on the job instead of doing chores. As a result, Link requests the automaton's creator, Doof, to make some fake Moblins to recreate the situation so the princess will let him get out of chores. Overhearing this, Zelda decides to make Link's plan backfire. Unfortunately, when real Moblins show up, neither one of them fight back hard enough to prevent her capture and she's carried to the underworld. Underground, Ganon places a mind control device around her neck to hypnotize her into marrying him.
This episode contains the following tropes:
- And Now You Must Marry Me: Ganon uses his goons to kidnap Zelda in her own castle specifically so he could try to marry her by using a Mind-Control Device necklace. However, the marriage is mostly a means to an end since he primarily wants to take over Hyrule and the Triforce of Wisdom. Mostly.
- And You Thought It Was a Game: Zelda mistakes the Moblins capturing her as fake ones set up by Link and Doof, but quickly realizes that they're real.
- Improvised Golems: Doof's creation is made out of an assortment of metallic parts and a wooden barrel to form a tinman, even down to a kettle-shaped head and nose. While it breaks and falls apart several times, it instantly puts itself back together again with a quick spell and one magic word. While designed to help Doof around the castle, he tries to sic it on some Moblins at one point, even though it doesn't follow orders very well.
- Meaningful Name: While he's a sweet old man, it doesn't take long to figure out that "Doof" is short for "Doofus", reflecting his kooky personality.
- Mind-Control Device: A thick, green necklace-like object is placed around Zelda's neck to place her under Mind Control. As soon as its put on, she's immediately rendered into an obedient servant that goes with whatever Ganon is saying.
- Mind-Control Eyes: Zelda's eyes turn green while under Mind Control by Ganon's new device.
