Recap / The Interns S 6 E 6

Go To

Bykov must help Kisegach to fix a power socket, but he only agrees to this if she would wash his clothes, by hands. She agrees, but instead of doing as he demanded, uses dry cleaning. When Bykov learns about this, he invites electrician Ivanovich to fix her socket, instead of fixing it himself.

Lobanov's new patient is a lesbian... who has some interest to Varya, and needs Semyon's help to organise everything, so she can seduce her. When Lobanov refuses to help, she just bribes him. Eventually, Lobanov feels regret and decides to warn Varya; unknowingly to him, she already rejected attempts to hit on her, and when Semyon arrives, she only agrees to forgive him when he gives her all the money he'd earned... after which Semyon realises that he must also pay for a restaurant bills.

Gleb's new patient, Anna, is his old classmate. Now she's an attractive woman, but back then she was fat and ugly; Gleb was amongst those who bullied her. Now Anna is interested in Gleb, but Phil thinks that it may be a trap, and she plans to humiliated him. Gleb is sceptical initially, but quickly starts noticing that her behaviour repeats Phil's hypothetical scenarios, and tries to "sabotage" her plan... only to learn that there's none, and he just made himself a fool on his own. In the end, they actually sleeps with each other... and only then Anna reveals her real plan: long time ago, she gave a promise to herself that she would sleep with Gleb (who was the most attractive guy in their school); now, when this happened, he's no longer interesting to her in any way, shape or form: she used and discarded him. Oh, and by the way... he was terrible in bed.

This episode provides examples of:

  • Best Served Cold: Back in school days, Gleb cruelly bullied his then-classmate, now patient, Anna; now Anna is an attractive woman and wants to date him. Phil instantly recognises the situation as her long-plotted revenge, and even describes some theoretical scenarios she may try to humiliate Gleb. In the end, both scenarios turns out to be false, and they sleeps with each other... after which Anna finally reveals that she gave an oath to herself that she would sleep with Gleb; she just did that, which means, Gleb is no longer interesting to her in any way — especially since he was rather bad as a lover.
  • The Bully: Back in the days when Gleb and his current patient, Anna, were schoolchildren, they were classmates. Gleb horribly bullied her by any means he could think of; forcefully taking down her pants, spicing her tea with laxatives, and [[Embarrassing Nickname calling her "Tortilla". Somehow, he doesn't see anything suspicious in her suddenly wanting to date her old enemy out of a blue.
  • Does Not Like Men: One of the arguments Lobanov's lesbian patient uses when trying to seduce Varya is that she "doesn't need" men, as they "can't be trusted" (using Lobanov as example, stating that it was him who helped her to get closer to Varya).
  • Double Entendre: Kisegach needs Bykov's help to fix her socket. She really needs to fix the power socket, but Bykov misinterprets this as a euphemism for sex. When Bykov realises his mistake, he decides to just leave without doing anything.
  • Formerly Fat: Gleb's new patient is his old classmate, who used to be fat and ugly (Gleb was amongst those who bullied her for that), but now is an attractive woman.
  • Incompatible Orientation: Lobanov's Lipstick Lesbian patient's advances on Varya ultimately fails, because when she kisses Varya, Varya realises that she's just not into women.
  • It's All About Me: Bykov, rather than helping Kisegach with a (very minor) problem, tries to make it all about himself:
    • When Kisegach asks Bykov to help her fix a power socket, Bykov (once he realises that this is not an euphemism for sex) refuses to do anything, despite her telling him that she expected that "her man" would at least help her sometimes, and not just use her for sex (plus, she agreed to sleep with him if he fixes the socket).
    • Later, he tells Kisegach that he would fix that socket... but only if she would wash his dirty cloths, since if he's "her man", she's "his woman", and women are "supposed" to wash clothes. She reluctantly agrees, hoping that he would, at last, fix that socket. Then Bykov learns that she cleaned his clothes by using dry cleaning, and, instead of fixing the socket himself, invited their electrician Ivanovich.
  • Laser-Guided Karma: Varya deals with attempt to seduced her by herself, so when Lobanov (who was bribed to help his patient seduce Varya, for which she invited Varya into a restaurant) decides to warn her (when it's no longer relevant, since Varya rejected all advances by herself), he is forced to give all the money he'd earned to Varya... and then he realises that he must pay for that restaurant, too, with his own money.
  • Lipstick Lesbian: When Lobanov's patients (an elegant and attractive woman) says that she needs his help to hit on one doctor, he assumes that she means Gleb (many women likes him)... but nope, she wants Varya, and Semyon may be useful to hit on her.
  • My God, What Have I Done?: Lobanov was bribed by his patient to help her to seduce Varya. Later he realises that he did a grave mistake and decides to warn Varya... who already rejected the patient's advances by herself anyway.
  • Sexual Karma: Gleb was known for having one night stands with various women — use and discard. He meets a woman he bullied back at school who's now interested in him... and who sleeps with him, only to state that she's not interested in him; he just was used and discarded. She also humiliates him by stating that he was terrible lover.
  • Shout-Out: Back at school, Gleb was prone to call Anna "Tortilla", after a talking turtle from The Golden Key, or the Adventures of Buratino.
  • What Could Possibly Go Wrong?: That girl you abused back in the school became an attractive woman and suddenly agreed on a date with you? No, nothing bad could possibly happen, Gleb! Phil lampshades how stupid it is for Gleb to believe in this, and lists a couple of ways it can go wrong. Gleb becomes more careful when he sees that Phil may be right, but ultimately, Anna's plan turns out to be completely different — and even more humiliating.
