Mr. Lester tips Carmen that the FBI are about to search Diane's home. Carmen promptly tips off Diane, who calls Liz, who calls Jay. It turns out to be about whether Kurt knows any January 6 insurgents. The firm deals with a comedian's racially insensitive material.

Judge Wackner's court holds a jury trial over an NFT worth four million dollars. To neutralize his own unconscious racial bias, Wackner makes, the plaintiff, the accused, and witnesses to wear animal masks.

Tropes:

  • Bait-and-Switch: Diane assumes the FBI are after her, but they show up with Nancy Crozier, who serves Kurt with a warrant.
  • Call-Back: Nancy plays back a voice recording of Diane leaving an anonymous tip about January 6.
  • Destroy the Evidence: Kurt burns a list of people the FBI might link to Jan 6.
  • Non Sequitur:
    • Mr. Lester takes his time getting to his "urgent" news, getting distracted by various details in Carmen's apartment.
    • Nancy Crozier brings up her pregnancy all the time, often interrupting her own sentences.
  • Obfuscating Stupidity: Marissa informs judge Wackner that she know he's doing this trope to get people to talk.
  • Secret Test of Character: Wackner's jury selection is this, at least until the second jury candidate figures it out. To start with, he asks people if they can sing the national anthem, and if they say yes they have to prove it; if you say no he lets it go.
  • Shout-Out:
    • Defied. Wackner quotes himself, he says, not Shakespeare.
    • Wackner asks a jury member if his liking Monty Python changes the fact that she does not.
    • Wackner quotes Todd Snider's "Can't Complain".
  • Would Not Hurt A Child: Downplayed. Marissa can't bring herself to tell a joke about Greta Tuhnberg because she's a child.
