Tropes:

  • Blatant Lies: Elliott lying to Dorothy saying he didn't make a pass at Blanche.
  • Cassandra Truth: Dorothy doesn't believe Blanche when she tells her Elliott made a pass at her.
  • Easily Forgiven: Blanche and Dorothy make up and forgive each other even after Dorothy called Blanche a "slut".
  • Engineered Public Confession: Rose started flirting with Elliot, and from there was able to goad him into admitting that Blanche was telling the truth, while Dorothy was in earshot.
  • Everybody Has Standards: Blanche loves dating a lot of men but even she is turned off and uncomfortable when Dorothy's boyfriend Elliott makes a pass at her.
  • Love Triangle: Dorothy/Elliott/Blanche.
  • "The Reason You Suck" Speech: Blanche delivers one to Dorothy for not believing her about Elliott making a pass at her.
  • "Shaggy Dog" Story: Sophia tells one to Rose.
Sophia: Let me tell you a story. Sicily. 1912. Picture this. Two young girls, best friends, who share three things: a pizza recipe, some dough and a dream. Everything is going great until one day a fast talking pepperoni salesman gallops into town. Of course, both girls are impressed. He dates one one night, the other the next night. Pretty soon, he drives a wedge between them. Before you know it, the pizza suffers, the business suffers, the friendship suffers. The girls part company and head for America, never to see one another again. Rose, one of those girls was me. The other one you probably know as Mama Celeste.
  • Slut-Shaming: Dorothy calls Blanche "a slut", accusing her of stealing her boyfriend Elliott.
  • So Beautiful, It's a Curse: Lampshaded by Blanche after she told Dorothy that her boyfriend made a pass at her but Dorothy didn't believe her. All said while she puts on her makeup.
Blanche: Nobody ever believes me when I'm telling the truth. I guess it's the curse of being a devastatingly beautiful woman.
