  • The "I Love You" Stigma: This episode is all about it. Barry warns Adam about saying it to Dana, but then says it to Lainey and gets upset when she doesn't say it back. Adam, meanwhile, tries to retrieve a love letter he left in Dana's locker. All the while, Beverly pressures Murray into telling Erica he loves her, then gets upset when Erica doesn't say it back.
  • It's All My Fault: Beverly knows that she messed up in forcing Erica and Murray to say "I love you" to each other, now seeing that they know they do and just express it differently than her.
  • I "Uh" You, Too: Erica and Murray have this dynamic, though the A Plot consists of Beverly trying and failing to get them to be more expressive.
  • Locker Mail: Adam leaves a heartfelt love letter in Dana's locker.
  • Title Drop: Coach Mellor remarks that "Goldbergs Feel Hard" when Adam and Barry come to him at the same time for advice about love and going to extreme lengths to hide/prove it.
