Go To

Original air date: 7/2/2022

Production code: 119a

On the day he has to submit his scare report, Scratch comes down with a severe case of joy (yes, really), that makes him too adorable to be scary. Molly offers to help out taking over Scratch's scares herself. Unfortunately, she's way less of a scaring pro compared to him.

Tropes:

  • Baby Talk: As Scratch becomes more adorable, he starts tawking wike a widdle baby.
  • Beware the Nice Ones: Scratch explains that she's only scary in an unintentional way when she feels provoked and she's otherwise too sweet. His example is him getting on her about kissing her stuffed animals goodbye even when she's running late.
Molly: (gasps, hugging her stuffed animals while staring menacingly at Scratch) How dare you?! Smooch Time is a time we make, not a time we take! (proceeds to kiss each of them before staring back at Scratch)
  • Don't Sneak Up on Me Like That!: In Molly's second scare attempt she jumps out of a tree at a guy. Not unjustifiably, she ends up getting judo-thrown.
  • Epic Fail: All of Molly's many attempts to scare people fail miserably, especially when she tries to pretend to be a monster... but with a sympathetic backstory because of her relentless optimism.
  • Last-Minute Project: Scratch always waits for the very last moment to do his scares for his monthly scare reports.
  • Minion with an F in Evil: Molly trying to be mean and scary to help make up for Scratch not meeting his quota keeps failing. She instantly feels bad about scaring people, or when she pretends to be a monster she gives herself a sympathetic backstory that makes people want to help her instead.
  • Not Zilla: Molly's last attempt to scare people is to put on an old dinosaur costume. However, she only gets scary when she stumbles around blindly after the mask gets knocked sideways. At one point, she stomps through a sandbox full of sand castles, reenacting a typical Kaiju movie scene.
  • Psychoactive Powers: Scratch has been so positive lately that he starts involuntarily transforming to only being capable of doing cute things. It isn't until he experiences fear again that he returns to normal.
  • Sugar Bowl: The ghost doctor looks inside Scratch and finds a pastel colored world inside, with happy cute animals and a volcano that spews rainbows. Once Scratch finds his fear, this inner world becomes fiery and violent.
  • Virus-Victim Symptoms: Scratch is infected with joy and becomes more and more adorable as the episode progresses. At first, it's just freckles and big sad eyes, but it progressively worsens into serious indicators of cuteness — long lashes, baby talk, changing bright rainbow colors with each sneeze, sparkling, spontaneous flower crowns, Helium Speech, and increasingly chibi proportions.
  • "What Do They Fear?" Episode: Scratch must find his fear to get rid of his infection. It turns out that it is losing Molly.
  • White Flag: Molly waves one after getting flipped by one of her victims.
