Recap / The Fairly Odd Parents S 3 E 14 Mother Nature

Go To

Tired of being ignored by her husband and son, Mrs. Turner decides to become Channel 6's new weatherman (err, weatherwoman), and Timmy, not wanting her to get run out of town by an angry mob for getting the weather wrong like the weathermen before her, wishes for her every forecast to come true. But this causes a problem when she makes a rather crazy prediction that could destroy Dimmsdale.

This episode contains examples of:

  • An Aesop: Don't get so caught up in the things that you love to do to the point that you (unintentionally) emotionally neglect your family members.
  • Brick Joke: At the beginning of the episode, it's mentioned that Dimmsdale's rival city, Brightburg, has been declared the best place to live. At the end, after Timmy ends up diverting all of his mother's destructive weather predictions to Brightburg, the town is declared the worst city to live in.
  • Chekhov's Gun: Mr. Turner's (or rather "Mrs. Turner"'s) broccoli gelatin.
  • Comical Overreaction: Mr. Turner goes nuts when Timmy is gone for 15 seconds.
  • Crazy-Prepared: For some reason, Mr. Turner had previously made a "Mom" puppet.
  • Firemen Are Hot: Gender-inverted. The newscaster refers to Mrs. Turner as "Dimmsdale's hottest TV personality" this is then followed by her posing in a firefighter outfit with a graphic to the left of her saying, "TODAYS FORCAST: HOT!"
  • Gelatinous Encasement: In order to prevent the town from getting destroyed in an earthquake, Timmy wishes to encase the entire town in a mold of Gelatin Brand gelatin. They dispose of the resulting mess by launching it into Brightburg.
  • Literal Metaphor: Thanks to Timmy's wish, any weather-like comment his mother made would happen as well (i.e when she says "rain on Mr. Ubetcha's parade", a rain cloud appears over Chet).
  • Serious Business: The citizens of Dimmsdale do not like it when the weatherman is wrong even once, and would chase them out of town as a result.
  • Title Drop: After Mrs. Turner is declared Dimmsdale's best weather reporter, Channel 6 refers to her as "Mother Nature".
  • Uncanny Valley: Mr. Turner's "Mom" puppet looks too much like Mrs. Turner, to Timmy's disturbance.
Timmy: No amount of therapy will ever make this moment okay.
