Recap / The Casagrandes S 3 E 4 Skaters Gonna Hate Born To Be Mild

Go To

"Skaters Gonna Hate" contains these tropes:

  • As Himself: Tony Hawk appears as the man who accidentally put Carlos in a full-body cast twenty years ago.
  • But for Me, It Was Tuesday: Carlos thinks that Tony Hawk deliberately pushed him into a skate pool, resulting in him breaking every bone in his body (which required him to be put in a cast for a year), so Tony could take the win for himself. Tony doesn't get what Carlos is talking about at first, but once he does, he explains that he was simply trying to give Carlos a high five.
  • Evil Laugh: Carlos does this while plotting revenge against Tony Hawk.
  • Malicious Misnaming: At the start of the episode, Carlos refers to Tony Hawk as "Tony Squawk."

"Born to Be Mild" contains these tropes:

  • Adults Are Useless: Averted with Principal Valenzuela. Just as Alexis, Carl, Ricky, and Julius are about to fight each other, she breaks up the fight and leads the boys to her office at once.
  • Big Bad Duumvirate: The two bullies who keep picking on Alexis (by name, Ricky and Julius).
  • Bird-Poop Gag: During one of Alexis’ training exercises, Alexis gets pooped on by Sancho. Alexis sympathetically tries to clean Sancho but accidentally gets poop on his feathers. Carl later embellishes this event by claiming Alexis revenge-pooped on the pigeon.
  • Crying a River: Carl convinces Alexis to make fun of Bobby's hair, knowing that Bobby is Prone to Tears. Alexis comparing Bobby's hair to a dirty broom hurts Bobby's feelings and predictably results in him crying so hard he floods the mercado, to the point where Vito is swept away to the docks.
  • Running Gag: Laird getting caught covered in whatever Ricky and Julius used to mess with Alexis' tuba.
  • Toilet Humor: See Bird-Poop Gag above.
  • Vomit Discretion Shot: Alexis barfs into a bush just before he and Carl start to fight Ricky and Julius.
