Go To

Saving Face: Ronnie Anne and Sid are determined to find out if the new building tenant is their favorite wrestler La Tormenta.

Matters of the Kart: After an old man wins Carl's dream go kart, Carl wants to prove that he's worthy of the prize himself.

"Saving Face" contains examples of:

  • Given Name Reveal: This episode reveals that La Tormenta's real name is Blanca Guzman.
  • Mundane Made Awesome: Blanca Guzman takes out the garbage using La Tormenta's catchphrase and moves. This clues Ronnie Anne and Sid in on the idea that Blanca Guzman is La Tormenta.
  • My God, What Have I Done?: Ronnie Anne and Sid find Bianca Guzman's La Tormenta costume, but then, they accidentally lose her mask, and they feel guilty about it. It gets even worse when Carlos mentions that, according to legend, a luchadora who fights without her real mask is doomed.
  • Reaching Between the Lines: Blanca contacts Rosa to inform her that her (Blanca's) ceiling is leaking water and feathers—and proves it by spraying some water and feathers at Rosa!
  • Tomboy and Girly Girl: In the middle of the episode, La Tormenta faces off against Princess Valentina. Before the match, the former begins boisterously taunting to the audience while proudly flexing her big biceps, while the latter slowly and gracefully brushes her hair.
  • The Worf Effect: Without her real mask, La Tormenta has a tough time of it fighting her opponents.

"Matters of the Kart" contains examples of:

  • Attention Whore: Upon overhearing an old man named Irving state that he will give the go kart to a deserving young person, Carl decides to do good deeds in front of Irving in an attempt to earn the go kart.
  • Dirty Coward: Carl's true colors show when a flock of pigeons comes to the apartment demanding their salary in bread. He hides himself under the table, which does not please his family—or Irving, for that matter.
  • Early Personality Signs: One of Carl's baby photos shows that he's been a scam artist all his life, as baby Carl has taken all the other babies' diapers at his daycare center.
  • Embarrassing Old Photo: While Irving has dinner at the Casagrandes' apartment, Frida tries to show Irving some of Carl's baby pictures. Rather than the expected gag of showing baby Carl sitting on a potty or lying naked on a bear-skin rug, the photo Frida shows is of baby Carl having taken the diapers of the other babies at his daycare center. The reason Carl finds this embarrassing is because he doesn't want Irving to see his true colors.
  • Oh, Crap!: Carl's reaction when Rosa invites Irving to dinner, and when Irving accepts the invitation.
  • O.O.C. Is Serious Business: When Irving tells the Casagrande family that Carl saved him from some pigeons, they are all shocked. In fact, this episode implies that the very idea of Carl being a caring, compassionate person is something that doesn't resonate very well with the Casagrandes, almost as if they're used to his selfish and greedy antics.
  • Pesky Pigeons: Carl hires Sergio's pigeon friends to attack Irving so he can save him from them. When neither Carl nor Sergio pay the pigeons for their performance, they attack Irving and the Casagrande family for real.
  • Vomit Discretion Shot: The aforementioned motions of the pizza chef's cylinder causes Sergio to throw up.
