Ronnie Anne tries to convince her father to move to the city while he is visiting; with the help of Sid, she devises a plan that seems too good to fail.
"Operation Dad" contains examples of:
- Ambiguously Bi: Tio Carlos is stated to have a man-crush on Arturo.
- Amicable Exes: This episode confirmed that Bobby and Ronnie Anne's parents are indeed divorced. Arturo and Maria even consider each other "better off as friends," as shown in their awkward greeting of each other when Arturo arrives. Arturo is also still on good terms with the relatives on Maria's side of the family (with the notable exception of his ex-suegro, Hector).
- False Teeth Tomfoolery: This episode reveals that the teeth Vito whitens so much are actually his dentures!
- Hidden Depths: Carl knows how to successfully tamper with report cards and documents. He even admits that he's done it multiple times with Vito's parking tickets.
- I Choose to Stay: At the end of the episode, Arturo decides to extend his stay in the city due to his strong feelings for Ronnie Anne
- Inelegant Blubbering: Again, Bobby does this as he and Ronnie Anne say good-bye to their father.
- I Want My Beloved to Be Happy: In the end, Ronnie Anne decides to let her father return to Peru to help his patients.
- Jerkass Realization: Ronnie Anne realizes how selfish she has been when she sees letters from her father's patients congratulating him on getting them better.
- The Makeover: Another attempt to get Arturo to stay involves Carlota dressing Ronnie Anne, Casey, Sameer, and Nikki like punk rebels.
- Obfuscating Stupidity: In an attempt to persuade her father to stay in Great Lakes City, Ronnie Anne pretends to be failing at school, even though she is on the honor roll.
- Ocular Gushers: Carlos, Frida, and Carlitos all cry like this when Arturo leaves the city for Peru.
- Open-Minded Parent: In one scene, Arturo asks Ronnie Anne if she has a crush on someone—boy or girl.
- Somebody Doesn't Love Raymond: Hector's the only member of Maria's family to have any bitter feelings towards Arturo.
- Tears of Joy: Frida when Arturo decides to move to the city after all.
- Wedgie: Apparently, Carl gave himself an atomic wedgie to pull a Wounded Gazelle Gambit.
