- Actually Pretty Funny: Carlota and CJ laugh upon seeing Hector hug Cam the chameleon snake in his sleep (he's dreaming about Rosa).
- Comedic Sociopathy: To prevent Mr. Scully from seeing the Changs' reptiles, Carl has Bobby carry all of them. Terrified, Bobby asks why they can't be in cages. Carl replies that "this is funnier."
- Continuity Nod: Froggy II from "Croaked" reappears.
- Faint in Shock: Bobby passes out with fear when he learns that Cam has wandered loose in the building.
- He does it again when he sees Tia Frida playing the snake charmer to Tio Carlos' snake note
- Lovable Coward: Bobby takes on this role because this episode reveals that he has extreme herpetophobia.
- Oh, Crap!: The Casagrande kids' reactions to finding out that Cam the chameleon snake has wandered off.
- Reptiles Are Abhorrent: At least, Mr. Scully thinks so.
- Why Did It Have to Be Snakes?: Mr. Scully is terrified of reptiles, especially snakes, to the point where he refuses to allow reptiles in the Casagrande apartment.
- Apparently, Bobby is afraid of reptiles as well. He actually says the trope name word-for-word when he sees the snake artwork in Frida's room.
"Team Effort" provides examples of:
- The Cake Is a Lie: It's revealed that Coach Crawford never intended to give Ronnie Anne and her friends their own club, and sent them on a wild goose chase.
- I Ate WHAT?!: Sid tells Ronnie Anne and her friends that the lunch lady lost her bandage in the mashed potatoes. Disgusted, they spit out their potatoes.
- Moving the Goalposts: When Ronnie Anne and her friends fulfill the requirements for her team, Coach Crawford informs them that they first need to win a qualifier match for it to be offical.
- Snipe Hunt: Refusing to acknowledge skateboarding as a sport, Coach Crawford sends Ronnie Anne and her team to the hair salon on purpose.
- Spit Take: Coach Crawford's reaction when Ronnie Anne announces that she and her friends are forming a skateboarding team.
- Ronnie Anne, Sameer, Casey, and Nikki do this themselves when Sid blurts out that the lunch lady lost her bandage in the mashed potatoes.
- Won't Take "Yes" for an Answer: This exchange after Coach Crawford admits to having framed Casey, Sameer, Nikki, and Laird for bad behavior and sending them, Ronnie Anne, and Sid on a Snipe Hunt:Crawford: I didn't wanna give you a team because I thought skater kids were a bunch of noisy slackers, but what you guys did today proved me wrong, you got heart, you got grit, and you got a hotdog, my favorite food. [laughs] You can have your team!
Ronnie Anne: [who wasn't listening] Well, we're not leaving until we have our team!
Casey: Uh, I think he just said we got it.
