"The Indecision Amalgamation" is an episode of The Big Bang Theory that first aired on April 3, 2014. Directed by Mark Cendrowski. Teleplay by Steven Molaro, David Goetsch and Steve Holland, based on a story by Bill Prady, Eric Kaplan and Jim Reynolds.

Penny's asked to reconsider her earlier decision about the rôle she rejected in Serial Ape-ist 2: Monkey See, Monkey Kill, while Sheldon can't make up his mind whether to get an Xbox One or a PlayStation 4. Leonard calls on Wil Wheaton (As Himself) to advise Penny. Amy tries to help Sheldon make a decision but just winds up exhausted.

Raj runs into Emily (Laura Spencer), whom he scared away in a previous episode, and they decide to give it a go. Lucy then texts him and wants to see him again, note  racking Raj with indecision as to whether to date the two women simultaneously, date one and reject the other or even reject them both.

Penny decides to take the rôle even though it actually pays less than what she made waiting tables at the Cheesecake Factory. With Emily's encouragement, Raj decides to date both Emily and Lucy and see where it leads. And Amy and Sheldon stay at the store past closing time with Sheldon having been unable to make a decision and leaving empty-handed.

Tropes

  • Adam Westing: Wil Wheaton bemoans the way his career has been going. In The Tag, he has a role in Penny's movie, as the orangutan she has to wrestle with.
  • Brick Joke:
    • The quarter Sheldon throws away. He spots it on his way out of the store.
    • Wil Wheaton's talk about soul-crushing embarrassing acting roles comes back in the stinger, when it turns out he plays the orangutan in Serial Ape-ist 2.
  • Butt-Monkey: Poor Amy suffers from Sheldon harassing her with his indecisiveness over whether to get the PlayStation4 or Xbox One with Amy trying any and all rational tactic to get Sheldon to decide ie listening to reviewers or a coin flip and at one point she even offers to buy him both consoles but he rejects that simply because his TV isn't capable of having two consoles plugged in at once. Even so some of the rambling Sheldon gives out about his indecisiveness isn't even about the qualities and features of the consoles but just the naming of them.
  • Heads or Tails?: Amy suggests that Sheldon flip a coin to choose which console to buy; heads it's PS4, tails it's Xbox One.
Amy: [after Sheldon flips it] What is it?
Sheldon: A quarter. [tosses coin away]
Amy: Could have given it back to me. That was a choice.
  • Innocently Insensitive:
    • When Bernadette thought she was signing a "have a good retirement" card rather than a "get well" card, she wrote "you deserve this, good luck wherever you wind up lol :)".
    • Penny asks Wil Wheaton for advice, and he admits he has done acting jobs he's embarrassed by. Penny says she wouldn't exactly call Star Trek embarrassing, but that wasn't what he meant.
  • Shout-Out: A conversation with Wil Wheaton references Star Trek: The Next Generation (as just Star Trek) and Stand by Me.
  • This Is Going to Be Huge: Sheldon debates whether to buy an Xbox One or a PS4. Just as he thinks he's made a decision, he realizes that many of his previous decisions ended up being for the losing format — Betamax over VHS, HD-DVD over Blu-Ray, Zune over iPod.
  • Two Lines, No Waiting: Both Penny and Sheldon are having trouble making a decision in regards to different things, and halfway through the episode so is Raj.
