Gumball and Leslie get into a war after the former makes an offensive comment about plant culture and the latter tricking him into being baked by the sun.

Tropes:

  • Body Horror: When Gumball attempts to do photosynthesis, his body dries and keeps immobile, until a new Gumball comes out of the dry body, and rips it. Banana Joe witnessed the scene and was horrified.
Banana Barbara: Did you have a nice day at school?
Banana Joe: No, no I did not.
  • Both Sides Have a Point: Leslie is rightly offended by Gumball's insensitivity. However, as Gumball points out, Leslie shouldn't have taken advantage of him and make tensions worse between them.
  • Bowdlerization:
    • The Turkish dub edited out the infamous part where Gumball breaks through his desiccated body after Leslie tricks him into standing in the sun for too long (making it look like Banana Joe was traumatized over seeing Gumball dry out in the sun, which isn't any better than what was censored). This edit was also done in Cartoon Network's Asian channel, the Russian dub, and the Bulgarian dub.
    • The French, Spanish, Portuguese, Italian, and German dubs surprisingly left in the scene that was cut in Turkey, Asia, Russia, and Bulgaria. However, it was still shown with a scene cut. Their versions instead cut the part where Gumball eats potted dirt to prove to Leslie that he understands plants.
  • Chalk Outline: The police are investigating one, but Leslie's water hose washes it away.
  • A Day in the Limelight: For Leslie.
  • Embarrassingly Painful Sunburn: After Gumball''s body dries up and a new Gumball comes out of the dry body, and rips it, his skin turns completely red from a third-degree sunburn, to the point where he sits in Darwin's fishbowl, filled with ice cubes.
  • Escalating War: Leslie tricks Gumball into getting burnt in the sun, leading to each pulling increasingly ridiculous pranks (eating soil, bee swarms, high-pressure hosing, Cement Shoes) they claim are "plant things".
  • Fantastic Racism: It becomes apparent that, since Everything Talks in Elmore, talking badly about any random object may personally offend someone.
    • Gumball asks if a non-sentient vacuum cleaner is Bobert's friend, causing Bobert to ask if Gumball thinks all machines know each other. Darwin and Gumball (then dressed like robots) make him even angrier by attempting to walk away in a robotic fashion.
    • After missing out on the school's plant theme week, Gumball says plants aren't important. When Leslie points out he's a plant, Gumball hastily takes back his statement, but the only plant-related thing he can think of is salad.
  • Here We Go Again!: After Gumball and Leslie make up for their increasingly dangerous stunts, Leslie assumes that Gumball needs to get milked because he's a mammal. Gumball angrily calls out him out as the episode abruptly ends, implying that their feud has restarted.
  • Hypocritical Humor: Leslie is offended that Gumball doesn't know anything about plants, and uses it to trick him into hurting him. As the episode ends, Leslie shows he's equally ignorant about mammals.
  • Troll: Leslie catches on early that Gumball has no idea about how plants function but uses that to dupe him into doing a series of unpleasant things in the name of imitating "plant culture". However after a while Gumball starts retaliating and putting Leslie through unpleasant things of his own to make him prove that plants don't do those things.
  • Vomit Discretion Shot: Tobias vomits as a result of food poisoning
