"You raise them from birth to believe you're gods so they sacrifice themselves willingly for the greater glory of you. It must be nice to be worshipped."
Raven

Diyoza learns more about the mysterious Children of Gabriel while Abby continues searching for a way to save Kane.

  • Breaking Bad News Gently: Bellamy takes the initiative to tell Madi that Clarke is dead, making it a point to get down on her level to look her in the eyes.
  • Evil Mentor: Sheidheda attempts to convince Madi that Gaia is this and tries to get her to kill Gaia. Madi tries to resist, but since Gaia is being more of a Stern Teacher this episode out of fear of Sheidheda's return, she ends up coming off exactly as Sheidheda warned. Madi wakes up chained and Gaia pushes to continue the separation ritual. When Madi asks for Clarke, Gaia bluntly rebuffs her. The seed is planted. After finding out that Clarke is dead, Madi blames Gaia and while she resists Sheidheda's encouragement to kill her, she does banish her.
  • Internal Reveal: Everyone (except Abby) finds out that Clarke has been subject to a Grand Theft Me.
  • Mama Bear: Bellamy tells Russell that while they're right to be concerned about him and his need for revenge on Clarke's behalf, it will pale in comparison to Abby's reaction to finding out they've Body Snatched her daughter.
  • Manipulative Bastard: Josephine, which is to be expected, but watching her toy with Abby's emotions for her own personal gain is hard to watch.
  • Troubling Unchildlike Behavior: Inverted as Madi becomes increasingly unsettled by dealing with Sheidheda and it starts to affect her own Commander persona. She repeatedly asks for Clarke, and is denied by Gaia even before it's known that Clarke has been body-snatched, and it culminates in Bellamy telling Madi that Clarke is dead and her throwing herself into his arms like the 12-year-old she is behind the Flame.
  • Wham Shot: The final scene is Clarke waking up in her cell on the Ark—seemingly alive.
  • What the Hell, Hero?: Raven spends most of the episode re-framing what Ryker's been taught about the Primes and their practices, much to his annoyance. She finds out that he keeps objects that belonged to the bodies he's used, which he feels falls under Tragic Keepsake but she points out is more like a Creepy Souvenir.
Ryker: My second host built that [music box], Alejo. Made it when he was 12 out of recycled radios. At least they were still good for something, huh?
Raven: [disgusted] An offering to the gods, huh?
Ryker: How do you do that? How do you make something beautiful seem so profane?
Raven: Newsflash—keeping a gift from someone whose body you stole is profane.
