Recap / The 100 Girlfriends Who Really Really Really Really Really Love You Ch 035

Go To

Last time, they did some baseball practice. After two weeks of practice, Rentarou and the girls are ready to take the win. But three classmates recruited for the team are sick, so Rentarou asks the manager of the opposing team, the Jurassic High Baseball Team, if Kurumi, Hahari, and Mei can fill in for the rest of the team, and the opposing manager agrees.

The game gets underway, with Jurassic High batting first and Ohananomitsu University Associate Senior High School batting second. Iku plans to throw a full strikeout game, but the opposing catcher, Rapko Veloki, recognizes Iku and suspects she'll be able to leverage a past incident to her advantage.

Jurassic High is quickly moved to fielding, and the team's pitcher, Sauruko Terano, throws fastballs that the girls are unable to hit. Things get worse in the bottom of the third inning, when Iku is wounded by a full-blast pitch, rendering her unable to pitch a perfect game.

At the end of the sixth inning, the team is assessing their strategy when Rapko decides to dash their morale to invoke the mercy rule before Iku recovers. To this end, she secretly demeans Shizuka to her face, causing her to fumble around more badly than before. Shizuka tearfully apologizes to her team, and Kusuri immediately realizes what's happened and explains what she saw to Rentarou.

With the bottom of the seventh underway, things suddenly take a sharp turn south for Jurassic High. The girls start scoring bases by bunting the pitches, as Rentarou realizes that the pitches are being thrown on the exact same trajectory every time. When their turn comes to field, Mei proves a strong pitcher, and Iku successfully recovers from her wounds, allowing her to pitch again.

It turns out Rapko made a HUGE mistake picking on Shizuka.

Tropes:

  • Epiphany Comeback: Rentarou notices that the opposing team's pitcher throws the exact same pitch along the exact same trajectory every time, and he realizes that the girls can easily take bases by bunting the pitches.
  • Heroic Second Wind: Rentarou's team manages a turnabout of epic proportions after Rapko made Shizuka cry.
  • Shout-Out: The harem's rage over Shizuka being mocked causes them all to go Super Smitten.
  • Unsportsmanlike Gloating: With Rentarou's team down by enough of a margin that the mercy rule has a likely chance of coming into play, Rapko decides to mock Shizuka to throw them off their game. This turns out to be a big mistake.
