The Titans learn that Santa is being held in a maximum security prison with Batman's rogues gallery after the FBI apprehended him last year, and decide to break him out in order to save Christmas.

  • Beyond Redemption: Santa puts the Titans on the permanent naughty list.
  • The Cameo: In the Jump City Prison, the following DC villains can be seen: Dr. Light, Mumbo Jumbo, Madame Rouge, Killer Moth, Doomsday, Catwoman, Mr. Freeze, The Penguin, Black Manta, Clayface, Harley Quinn, The Brain, Poison Ivy, Two-Face, Sinestro, Brother Blood, The Joker, and Bane.
  • Christmas Episode: The episode is all about the Titans trying to save Christmas by breaking Santa out of jail, and their escape plan involves holiday activities such as singing Christmas carols and hanging up stockings for the other prisoners.
  • Christmas Miracle: Santa says it will take a Christmas miracle to restore his relationship with his reindeer.
  • Dramatic Drop: After the Titans all Gasp! when Beast Boy reveals he got Santa locked up in prison, Starfire drops the hamster cage she was holding and it lands right on Robin’s head.
  • Dressing as the Enemy: The Titans dress in orange jumpsuits and pretend to be criminals to infiltrate the Jump City Prison.
  • Falling into Jail: After Santa double-crosses them, he cuts the jingle bell rope they’re climbing up and they fall right back inside the prison gates.
  • The Farmer and the Viper: After the Titans help him break out of prison, Santa double-crosses them, putting them all on a permanent naughty list for sending him there in the first place and abandons them in the prison.
  • First Rule of the Yard: As soon as they get to the prison, Robin picks a fight with the biggest villain there. This just so happens to be Bane and, instead of pummeling Robin like one would expect, he just wanted to bring the Titans a welcome basket.
  • Freeze-Frame Bonus:
    • A miniature stocking for Silkie can be seen hanging with the rest of the Titans’ stockings.
    • The Titans’ Christmas tree is decorated with ornaments that represent each of them: birdarangs for Robin, skulls for Raven, bolts for Cyborg, purple & green baubles for Starfire, and green bones for Beast Boy.
  • Great Escape: After the Titans find out Santa is in prison and no one will be getting presents this year, they decide to bust him out for the sake of Christmas.
  • I Just Want to Have Friends: Robin asked Santa for a best friend for Christmas.
  • It's the Journey That Counts: Despite getting double-crossed by Santa and denied their Christmas gifts, the Titans realize they still got what they wanted during the adventure; for example, Raven gets peace and quiet (because they're each locked in maximum security cells), and Robin gets to be treated like a real crimefighter (because Bane is about to break him into pieces for extending his jail sentence).
  • Jail Bake: The reindeer smuggled a fruit cake into Santa that had a whole mess of tools hidden inside it for him to use to break out.
  • Ladies and Germs: Robin addresses the crowd of villains as “Ladies and gentlemen and criminal masterminds of all ages”.
  • Literal Metaphor: Santa says he knows the prison like the back of his hand and then takes off one of his gloves to show that he actually has a map of the prison on the back of his hand.
  • Medium-Shift Gag: When Santa rips his shirt open to show off his tattoo of his sleigh being pulled by the reindeer, his chest is portrayed as a realistic image as he does a Pec Flex.
  • Nice Job Breaking It, Hero: Part of the Titans' plans to break Santa out is distracting the guards by picking a fight with Bane. Bane, who didn't want to fight due to being one day away from serving his sentence, ends up having it extended by a full century, leading him to declare that he'll get vengeance on Robin. He keeps his promise at the end of the episode, after Santa ditches the Titans.
  • Prisons Are Gymnasiums: Apparently Santa spent his time in prison getting ripped.
Cyborg: Prison life has made him jacked!
  • Retirony: Played with. Bane only had one day left on his sentence until Robin started a fake fight with him and got 100 years added to his term.
  • Running Away to Cry: Bane runs off crying after Robin yells at him in order to assert his dominance.
  • Saving Christmas: With Beast Boy having put Santa in prison, Christmas is in danger of being canceled altogether if the Titans can’t break him out of jail in time.
  • Sequel Episode: The episode deals with the consequences of Beast Boy's actions last Christmas.
  • Sweet and Sour Grapes: Although their Christmas was ruined and they'll have to spend who knows how long in prison, the Titans did manage to save Christmas for the rest of the world. Also, throughout the episode, they all got what they had wanted for Christmas: Starfire got a cute little pet (the mouse she found in the laundry room), Cyborg got new accessories for the T-Car (the vanity license plates that he made), Beast Boy got snacks (from the prison kitchen), Raven gets peace and quiet (because they're each locked in maximum security cells), and Robin gets a new friend (in the form of a very vengeful Bane, who is now his cellmate).
  • Trash-Can Band: The Titans and Santa use various supplies from around the prison as instruments when they sing Christmas carols. Santa makes a guitar out of a food tray, some string, and a spork; Starfire uses a toilet seat as a tambourine; Beast Boy beats on a pot with metal spoons; and Raven blows on a jug.
  • True Meaning of Christmas: Inverted. The Titans say time and time again throughout the episode that everyone should be focusing on what’s really important at Christmas time: presents.
  • Vanity Plate: Cyborg and Raven use a license plate press to create invitations for their Christmas party. Cyborg also makes one for the T-Car that says “BOO YAH” and Raven makes one for Robin that says “BBY HNDS”.
  • We Need a Distraction: Robin pretends to be beaten up by Bane in order to distract the guards so Beast Boy can sneak into the prison kitchen.
  • Window Love: When Santa and his reindeer finally make up in the visiting room of the prison, they each put a hand and hoof respectively up to the glass separating them.
