Recap / Teen Titans Go S 6 E 47 Villains In A Van Getting Gelato

Go To

Four supervillains hang out and reminisce about how the Titans have wronged them in the past.

  • A Day in the Limelight: While the Titans still show up to wreck their day, the episode focuses on the villains for once.
  • Continuity Cavalcade: Each of the stories the villains tell is this to the 6 seasons the show's been on at that point.
    • Brother Blood was stuck with the Titans only saying "Waffles" while trying to warn them of an impending meteor heading towards Jump City.
    • Dr. Light tries to put on a light show for a charity event, only for the Titans to beat him down.
    • The HIVE take out their 401k, but the Titans are surprisingly knowledgeable about finances and tell them they took it out too soon, then blow up their money after deciding it's more likely they just stole it.
    • The Brain tries to get a generator for his little league soccer team, but Beast Boy takes it out for some shrimps and prime rib.
  • Destructive Savior: The Titan Robot is this by not only dancing on the bridge the villains are on and causing a traffic jam, but then destroying the Joker's Gelato they're at.
  • Ignored Epiphany: At Joker's Gelato, the villains remark that maybe they'd be better off just spending time together talking about their feelings instead of trying to get revenge on the Titans. Then the Titans accidentally crush Joker's Gelato with a giant mech, and the villains rush towards them to get revenge.
  • Karma Houdini: The Titans get no punishment for screwing with the villains' plans...to withdraw money, hold a fundraiser, coach a soccer team, and eat ice cream.
  • Kitschy Themed Restaurant: Joker's Gelato is an ice cream/gelato chain that has ice cream, sundaes and even the sprinkles named after the actors who've played the Clown Prince of Crime over the years.
  • Truer to the Text: In the past, most animated incarnations of The Brain could never have gotten past network censors by being in a romantic relationship with Monsieur Mallah. By now, however, broadcasting rules have apparently loosened up just enough that Brain and Mallah are finally shown in a romantic moment with each other (Mallah giving Brain a kiss goodbye after helping him into Gizmo's car), bringing them the closest they've ever been to their comic books counterparts.
  • Villains Out Shopping: The four villains try to do this, and would've succeeded if it weren't for the Titans messing with their day.
  • Whole-Plot Reference: The episode is one to Comedians in Cars Getting Coffee.
