Recap / Teen Titans Go S 4 E 1 Shrimps And Prime Rib

Go To

The Titans, having gone too long doing comedic hijinks without fighting any villains, try to remember how to be superheroes in order to stop The Brain.

This episode contains examples of:

  • Continuity Nod:
    • Forgotten that they're supposed to be heroes, the Titans bring up the things they were busy doing such as eating hot peppers, going on magical bathroom adventures, roller-blading, dressing up like grandma, experiencing crossovers, and learning the value of real estate.
    • Raven's love for dancing is shown again as referenced from "Legs" and "The Overbite".
  • Deadly Euphemism: Beast Boy is told to "Take out" the Mecha-Mook guard; this becomes a full protracted date that ends in her going home. He tries the same thing later on the Brain's (seemingly inanimate) generator, but see Woman Scorned.
  • Literal-Minded: Robin tells the Titans that getting past the cameras will require some craft, which Starfire and Cyborg understand to mean arts and crafts. This does, however, translate to improbably effective Camera Spoofing.
  • Self Botched Catchphrase: Robin initially forgets to say "Titans, GO!" as a part of forgetting being a hero.
  • Suddenly Shouting: The other Titans all flinch, confused when Robin goes from speaking normally to "TITANS-!".
  • Title Drop: "Shrimps and Prime Rib" is the meal Beast Boy serves when he "takes out" the robot guard.
  • Woman Scorned: The robot Beast Boy was dating was upset that he tried to "take out" something else in the Brain's lair and sends an army of other robots to attack the Titans.
  • Yank the Dog's Chain: After Robin finally remembers his full catchphrase and motivates the team into acting like real superheroes, the Titans East and Batman arrive to save the day themselves and make Robin feel useless, with the other Titans stating that at least they can go back to their wacky hijinks without worry.
