As a tornado brews, the employees contend with the fact that some of them will be laid off.

- Deus ex Machina: Discussed by Glenn, who hopes for an angel to come out at the very last second to stop him from having to fire people.
- Dissonant Serenity: Brett continues to shepherd shopping carts in the parking lot even while the wind rages around him.
- Emergency Multifaith Prayer: Glenn is seen praying to the Christian God, the Jewish God, Buddha, Ganesh, and Allah. This veers into Comically Missing the Point since Christian God, Jewish God and Allah are all the same deity. And Indra and Shiva, the Hindu Gods of Storms and Destruction, respectively, might be the more appropriate deities to pray to in the moment over Ganesh.
- Ignored Vital News Reports: A shopper flips through several channels warning people about the tornado before stopping on a shopping channel.

- Murder by Inaction: Almost. As the tornado is blowing, Sandra closes the door on Carol. She survives.
