Dinner and a show has never been so bizarre.

The Krusty Slammer

Original air date: 1/27/2019 (produced in 2018)

Plankton is arrested for a vandalism spree, but since the local prison is full, it looks like he's getting away — until Mr. Krabs decides to take Plankton prisoner in the Krusty Krab. Things complicate when more prisoners come in and SpongeBob is more focused on treating them to expensive luxuries than punishment.

"The Krusty Slammer" contains examples of:

  • The Bus Came Back: The Tattletale Strangler from "SpongeBob Meets the Strangler" and Stickyfins Whiting and Dorsal Dan from "The Getaway" appear in this episode as prisoners.
  • Continuity Nod:
    • Plankton makes the same "surprised face" as SpongeBob and Patrick from "The SpongeBob SquarePants Movie"
    • On one of the prisoners' TVs, a scene from "Mermaid Man and Barnacle Boy" can be seen.
  • Didn't Think This Through:
    • When Plankton attempted to defame Mr. Krabs by painting the whole town in red paint to make his rival look like a jerk at the beginning of the episode, he didn't take the fact that what he did is vandalism into account and was eventually caught and imprisoned.
    • When Krabs accepts prisoners other than Plankton, he doesn't realize how much it'll cost to keep them from disturbing the restaurant's patrons until Plankton points it out after being released.
  • Delayed Reaction: When Mr. Krabs returns to the Krusty Krab Prison the day after he released his inmates, they greet him and it's only after he greets them back he reacts to the fact they're back.
  • The Dog Bites Back: After being tortured by Mr. Krabs during his entire stay at the Krusty Krab Prison, the episode ends with Mr. Krabs having to do time at the Chum Bucket where he is tormented by Plankton.
  • Females Are More Innocent: Not a single female prisoner is seen. Then again, placing male and female prisoners together is not a good idea, so the female criminals were probably locked up elsewhere.
  • Luxury Prison Suite: The Krusty Krab eventually becomes one. When Mr. Krabs releases the inmates so he'll no longer pay for their luxuries or suffer for not doing so, they ask SpongeBob to get them back in.
  • Open Mouth, Insert Foot: Upon seeing the released inmates back, Mr. Krabs loudly berates SpongeBob for bringing them back after he released them the day before and only afterwards he learns the cop who paid him to turn the Krusty Krab into a prison is there and heard his rant. She arrests him for releasing inmates before they finished serving their sentences.
  • Prison Episode: The episode centers on the Krusty Krab becoming a prison.
  • Private Profit Prison: Krabs turns his restaurant into a prison not only because a cop offered him money to do so but also because otherwise the lack of space in the regular prison would save Plankton for serving time after being arrested for vandalism. When Krabs takes in other inmates, he still wants to keep his restaurant so he tricks his patrons into thinking it's a prison-themed restaurant. He later realizes he must either let the inmates live in luxury or let them disturb the patrons and tries to save money by releasing them before their time is up. When he's arrested for it, Krabs is sent to a prison ran by Plankton.
  • Produce Pelting: The prisoners throw tomatoes everywhere when Mr. Krabs won't allow them to have krabby patties or any special treatment.
  • The Scrooge: Plankton tries to escape by pointing at a spot where he falsely claims to have seen a coin. Mr. Krabs is distracted not not long enough for Plankton to escape and says lying about money is even worse than trying to escape.
  • Shout-Out: The famous paintings "The Mona Lisa" and "The Starry Night" appear in one of the jail cells.
  • Team Rocket Wins: Plankton ends up winning in this one, when he takes Krabs as his own prisoner and starts flinging chum at him.
  • This Is Gonna Suck: Mr. Krabs has this reaction when he is being taken to a "new prison" since the Krusty Krab is too crowded, and correctly guesses that his new prison is the Chum Bucket where he is tormented by Plankton.
  • Truth in Television: Yes, some prisons do treat their prisoners this way. Especially those in Norway.
  • Visual Pun: The beginning of the episode has Plankton vandalizing the Krusty Krab with red paint, and getting arrested for it.
Plankton: Arrest? For what? I didn't even steal anything this time.
Mr. Krabs: Vandalism's a crime too. You've been caught red-handed, Plankton.
Plankton: (looks at his hands that are dripping with red paint) Eh, should've used the green paint.

"SpongeBob, why is your house... DRIVING ON THE ROAD?!"

Pineapple RV

Original air date: 7/17/2020 (produced in 2018)note

Squidward wants to see the blooming of the rare Warbling Water Lilly, but Patrick's stupidity ruins his plans. Taking pity on him, SpongeBob and Patrick decide to turn SpongeBob's house into an RV and take Squidward on the trip.

"Pineapple RV" contains examples of:

  • Beary Friendly: Spongebob and Patrick befriend a group of sea bears by giving them belly rubs. Unfortunately, the opposite occurs to Squidward when he tries to "save" the duo, which results in him being mauled.
  • Call-Back: SpongeBob points out that sea bears like having their tummies tickled, which he also did in "Married to Money".
  • The Cameo: One of the tourists is notably Rube from "No Pictures Please".
  • Conscience Makes You Go Back: Squidward takes the pineapple RV and abandons SpongeBob and Patrick at Porpoise Peak. But while driving, Squidward realizes he can't leave them there and drives back.
  • Continuity Nod:
    • The Pineapple has a license plate reading "IM-RDY" just like SpongeBob's boat in "No Free Rides".
    • This marks the second time Squidward is attacked by a sea bear because he did something to tick them off.
    • This is also not the first time Gary has drove a car.
  • Dreadful Musician: Squidward per usual while he jams with the warbling water lily. It's enough to make SpongeBob and Patrick scream and run away.
  • Earn Your Happy Ending: After being put through the wringer all episode, SpongeBob and Patrick end up snagging Squidward a potted warbling water lily, and Squidward rounds out the episode by performing a duet with it.
  • Furry Reminder: When Squidward explodes with anger, ink squirts out of his head.
  • Hope Spot: When Squidward's RV rolls away, it manages to come to a stop without crashing, only to be crushed by an anchor.
  • Jerkass: The tourists. When the warbling water lily dries up, they decide to blame Squidward (even though he was just holding it) and beat him up.
  • Jerk with a Heart of Gold: After abandoning SpongeBob and Patrick at Porpoise Peak, Squidward feels guilty about what he did and goes back for them, even karate chopping a sea bear that he thinks is attacking SpongeBob and Patrick.
  • Misplaced Retribution: Even though Patrick was the one to pull out the warbling water lily and subsequently killed it, they blamed Squidward just because he was holding it.
  • Nature Tinkling: While at Porpoise Peak, SpongeBob and Patrick use the bathroom behind a bush before going back to the RV.
  • Road Trip Plot: The episode focuses on SpongeBob, Patrick, and Squidward going on a road trip.
  • Suddenly Shouting: "SpongeBob, why is your house... DRIVING ON THE ROAD?!"
  • Throw the Dog a Bone: After enduring the horrible road trip without even seeing the warbling water lily, SpongeBob reveals he potted the water lily, and the episode ends with the flower blooming and Squidward sharing a duet with it.
  • Vanity License Plate: The license plate for the RV reads "IM-RDY".
  • Who Is Driving?: Squidward asks SpongeBob and Patrick this at one point. Patrick reveals that Gary is the one driving the RV.
  • Your Head A-Splode: Patrick's head explodes when he hears Squidward's horrible clarinet playing.
