At Mr. Krabs' demand, SpongeBob and Patrick work on Old Man Jenkins' farm.
"FarmerBob" contains examples of:
- American Gothic Couple: Near the beginning, SpongeBob wears a dress and wig and pops up next to Old Man Jenkins while he's holding a pitchfork, making them resemble this.
- Broken Glass Penalty: While raising the barn, SpongeBob and Patrick play ball with it. They end up breaking the window of a living house.
- Cassandra Truth: Mr. Krabs initially doesn't believe SpongeBob's claims about seeing aliens...until his boat experiences an Alien Abduction.
- Crop Circles: SpongeBob and Patrick unintentionally create one, which brings aliens to the barn party.
- Mix-and-Match Critters: This episode shows underwater versions of farm animals such as a large jellyfish with cow spots and utters, a small jellyfish with bee stripes, and worms that are shaped like hogs.
- Perplexing Pearl Production: The clams spit out eggs instead of pearls since they are supposed to be the underwater version of hens.
- Running Gag: Even after Patrick is no longer behind the wheel, Old Man Jenkins' tractor is still going throughout the remainder of the episode.
- Shockingly Expensive Bill: The long bill that Mr. Krabs holds for all the vegetables he's bought from Old Man Jenkins's farm over the years.
- Spit Out a Shoe: A hog worm eats SpongeBob and spits out his clothes. SpongeBob then reaches out from inside the hog worm and asks if someone could hand him his clothes.
- Visual Pun:
- SpongeBob and Patrick do a barn raising. Which is portrayed as them raising a baby barn until it becomes an adult.
- Once the barn is fully raised, SpongeBob and Patrick throw a "barn mitzvah", complete with Jewish music in the background, the barn wearing a kippah and tallit, and Patrick exclaiming, "Mazel tov!"
- Working Off the Debt: Mr. Krabs get the Krusty Krab vegetables from Old Man Jenkins's farm. He pays off his debt by having SpongeBob and Patrick work on his farm.
Gary & Spot

Gary and Spot have a night out on the town, while being pursued by animal control.
"Gary & Spot" contains examples of:
- Brick Joke: At the beginning of the episode, Gary digs in Squidward's garbage and gets in a fight with Patrick over it, creating a mess. Towards the end of the episode while Gary is returning home, he passes Squidward, who is angrily cleaning up all the garbage.
- The Bus Came Back: Spot returns in this episode. His last major appearance was in "Plankton's Pet" three seasons earlier, having minor appearances in "Spot Returns" and "Bottle Burglars."
- Falling-in-Love Montage: Of Marvin and Alice at the carnival.
- Name and Name: Gary and Spot are the main characters in this episode.
- Narrator: For the first time, Sandy takes this role and commentates over Gary and Spot's adventures. It's mainly done because neither of the pets can talk.
- Punch-Clock Villain: Marvin the animal control officer is a genuinely nice guy, just lonely.
- Throw the Dog a Bone: Feeling bad for Marvin's loneliness, Gary creates him a wife made of slime.
- Title Drop: Multiple times by Sandy. For example, "Luckily for them, Gary and Spot are already pals with everyone here."
